Job Summary: The Manufacturing Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting the engineering team in productivity and reliability activities for the ATX transmission manufacturing processes and equipment. In addition, the technician position will test, analyze, report, troubleshoot and communicate process related issues pertaining to quality, equipment and engineering activity. This role will require a problem-solving mindset, consensus-building skills, and perseverance to drive data driven solutions.
What You Will Do:
- Represent engineering during emergency break-down events on production equipment from an engineering standpoint.
- Must be able to question the “How?” or “Why?” an issue is occurring.
- Create problem reports including Route Cause Analysis and Timeline Tracking.
- Maintain a running shift handoff to establish clear communication between shifts.
- Ability to capture the issues and quantify what is happening before escalation.
- Must communicate on a technical level what has been reviewed and captured through investigation.
- Support Manufacturing Engineering implemented countermeasures to ensure accuracy and repeatability.
- Will support implementation and validation of countermeasures through investigation.
- Manage process and equipment status for the production line.
- Ensure effective support for developed countermeasures by the Production Engineering team to prevent reoccurrence of equipment-related downtime.
- Support the improvement of safety, quality, productivity related items for the Manufacturing Engineering Team.
- Establish and maintain productive and effective working relationships with ATX team members and Japanese Production Engineering team members.
- Responsible for collaborating, creating and implementing engineering best practices to standardize team workflow.
- Establish and maintain a productive and effective working relationship with ATX working departments.
- Review and understand engineering control documents, product drawings & machine specifications.
- Effectively coordinate with maintenance, manufacturing, and quality control departments to coordinate route cause analysis and countermeasure.

Qualifications, Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Maintenance Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, or Production Engineering support role or equivalent technical support role required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience applying PDCA (Plan Do Check Act) methodology.
- Experience with a new product or changepoint management and tracking.
- Experience capturing issues in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a cross-cultural working environment.
- Experience with reporting methods and formats both verbal and written.
- Intermediate to Advance Skills in Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Physical Requirements:
- Standing for up to 8-12 hours per shift.
- Performing repetitive motions such as reaching, twisting, bending, pushing and pulling in compact work areas.
- Using fine motor skills to grasp and manipulate tools, parts, and equipment.
- Ability to reach above shoulder level and below the waist as part of daily tasks.
- Lifting, pushing and carrying up to 30 lbs.
