Role: Summer Sport Camp Lead (Inclusion and Camper Engagement)
Reports to: Manager of Children’s Program

What You’ll Do:
Summer Sport Camp Lead must be available to start work June 1st,, 2026, 40 hours weekly and be in attendance for staff training (June, exact dates TBC upon acceptance of offer letter).
*Summer Sport Camp Team Lead must be available for all Mondays-Fridays in July and August with the exception of July 1st and August 3rd.
Customer Experience
- Be a liaison for parents/guardians of participants, including those with disabilities/special needs.
- Work with families to create individualized plans for campers requiring additional support
- Communicate all pertinent information (program changes, child behavior concerns, accidents and injuries) to the parents and/or guardians of the participant in a positive and professional manner.
- Communicate and collaborate with coworkers to provide an engaging and well-organized program.
Evaluation
- Assist with evaluations of Sport Camp Instructors.
- Create a seasonal report on Summer Sport Camps to be submitted to the Manager of Children Programs.
- Provide seasonal report specifically related to inclusion and camper engagement
Leadership
- Be a positive role model for participants and Sport Camp Instructors.
- Assist with training and mentoring of Sport Camp Instructors.
- Mentor and support Sport Camp Instructors in facilitating inclusive and adaptive programs.
- Provide inclusion support to participants including behavior management and assistance with special needs.
- Communicate and ensure instructors are following best practices for inclusion and accessibility
- Supervise participants throughout all parts of the program
- Mentor Sport Camp Instructors through lesson planning and facilitating camp activities
- Supervise pre-and post-care with other staff.
- When required, be an active participant in the pools during swim
- Bring innovative ideas to camp planning, training and delivery
- Ensure that camp participants are disciplined in a positive, proactive and appropriate manner which does not hinder safety or self-esteem in any way.
- Respond to emergency situations utilizing training and MNP Community & Sport Centre Policies and Procedures.
- Carry a camp radio on your person at all times and respond to all camp situations
Organizing and Planning
- Plan the summer camp schedules and activities in accordance with quality program delivery guidelines as outlined by the Sport Services Team.
- Adapt daily camp schedule, using replacement activities of equal value where necessary.
- Adapt activities to promote full inclusion of all participants.
- Fill out accident / incident reports when required and submit them to the Manager of Children’s Programs immediately following the situation and follow up.
- Review participant health/medical forms and distribute information confidentially to Sport Camp Instructors.
- Respect and maintain equipment and supplies and encourage camp participants to do the same.
- Report losses or damages to the School and Manager of Children’s Programs.
- Take inventory of equipment at the beginning and end of the camp season.
- Backfill for all Sport Camp Instructors when required.
Training
- Attend MNP Community & Sport Centre Summer Camp Staff Training in June exact dates to be confirmed upon acceptance of offer.
- Attend other in-services, meetings and training as required.
What You’ll Need:
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and on the weekend is an asset
- One year of experience working with children in sports.
- Supervisory experience is an asset.
- Experience with children with disabilities and/or special needs.
- Preference may be given to candidates with previous coaching, camp counseling, inclusion or teaching experience.
- High energy level with excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- High energy level and enjoy working in a fast paced, challenging and changing environment.
- Proven track record working independently and in a team environment is an asset to the work you do.
All terms of employment outlined in this posting for your temporary position as a Summer Sport Camp Team Lead will be valid until September 06, 2024.
