Role: As an Aquatic Leadership Instructor your goal will be to lead exceptional aquatic leadership certification courses for our customers using Lifesaving Society Program Model Design. This role is a temporary term up to 3 months.
Reports to: Aquatic Programming & Operations Manager & Aquatic Specialty and Leadership Coordinator

What You Will Do:
Instruction & Program Delivery
- Teach Lifesaving Society Bronze-level, Intermediate First Aid, and CPR courses in a safe, engaging, and effective manner.
- Teach Lifesaving Society leadership-level courses including: National lifeguard, Swim Instructor and Lifesaving Instructor, First Aid Instructor, National lifeguard Instructor, Sport Coach 1, Swim Abilities, and other higher-level courses if applicable to current certifications.
- Maintain a high standard of customer engagement and ensure a positive learning environment for all participants.
- Develop and integrate new, innovative teaching methods and activities through the use of both internal and external resources.
- Maintain the necessary level of fitness to demonstrate and perform the practical elements of instruction.
- Stay up-to-date on the Lifesaving Society updates for course deliveries
Professionalism & Team Integration
- Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times by wearing the appropriate uniform and demonstrating leadership both on and off deck.
- Demonstrate effective and timely communication with supervisors, coworkers, and participants.
- Show willingness to integrate into the team and openness to learn from other team members.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled in-services and professional development opportunities.
- Display a commitment to continuous improvement and pursue higher levels of certification or technical skills as required.
Safety & Administration
- Be responsible for participant safety, including keeping the group together and prepared to evacuate in case of a medical emergency.
- Prepare and maintain accurate activity reports, test sheets, and administrative documentation, ensuring all fields are properly filled out and signed.
- Submit all important documentation to the Aquatic Specialty and Leadership Coordinator within a 24-hour period after completion of the course taught.
- Submit quarterly availability by the designated deadline to support effective scheduling.
- Collaborate closely with the Aquatic Specialty and Leadership Coordinator and Aquatic Shift Leaders in the development and growth of aquatic programs, both short and long term.
What You’ll Need:
- Lifesaving Instructor Certification (current), National Lifeguard (any option) (current) required
- CPR C and Standard First Aid (recertified within 2 years) required
- Previous work experience in an aquatic instructor role (1 year) required
- At least one of: Swim instructor, National Lifeguard Instructor Certification (current), Lifesaving First Aid Instructor, Swim instructor Trainer and/or Trainer of any discipline is an asset
- Excellent customer engagement, public relations, teamwork, communication, problem solving, judgment, and the ability to deal with conflict diplomatically will help ensure your success
- A high sense of urgency, ability to think clearly while handling multiple priorities in emergency situations
- All Aquatic Leadership Instructors are required to work a minimum of one course(s) every session (at least one full course as opposed to a recertification)
