SUMMARY
The Senior Construction Project Manager plans and oversees the end-to-end delivery of assigned construction projects and ensures delivery
within scope, budget and requirements. At this position level projects are typically of moderate to high complexity, risk and exposure.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Construction Project Management:
- Recognized as an expert in the profession.
- Plans and oversees the end-to-end delivery of assigned projects.
- In collaboration with project team members, defines project scope, deliverables and requirements and delegates them while remaining accountable to leadership and project stakeholders.
- Develops and implements project plans.
- Determines resource and budget requirements, cost estimates, and timelines.
- Identifies project risks and develops and implements mitigation and contingency plans.
- Monitors project delivery against timelines and ensures timely completion.
- Oversees the activities of project team members and monitors project task completion.
- Communicates project status to relevant concerned parties.
- Ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, budget and requirements, and complies with all regulatory, environmental and health and safety requirements.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with clients.
- Responsible for resolving issues, managing client expectations, and ensuring client satisfaction. Leads, understands, develops and analyzes project schedules on large and complex projects.
- Oversees schedule troubleshooting for project team members.
- Leads the overall design effort, manages design-coordinators on Design-Build jobs, oversees project control processes.
- Leads the project health and safety process, looks for opportunities for improvement, challenges the status quo.
- Leads and is accountable for the project quality program.
- Leads subcontractor selection, qualification and negotiations for complex projects.
- Review and understand all components of the contract documents, negotiates project contracts and change orders.
- Leads and monitors risk management for own scope, and mentors and coaches project team on risk mitigation strategies.
- Capable of leading the estimate and proposal process.
- Guided by department policies and strategic business plans and drives results at the project level.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Community college diploma in architectural technology, construction technology, engineering technology or equivalent experience.
- 10 + years of construction project management work experience.
- Project management – proven ability and experience in delivering projects on-time, on-budget, within specifications and in-compliant with all requirements including but not limited to regulatory, environmental, health, and safety requirements.
- Project Budget management – proven ability and experience in developing and managing budgets.
- Project risk mitigation and management – proven ability and experience in mitigating and managing project risks.
- Communication – strong communication, influence, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
- Relationship building – proven ability and experience in building and maintaining effective relationships.
- Client management – proven ability and experience in managing client relationships and expectations.
- Client service orientation – strong client service orientation.
- Project team leadership – proven ability and experience in project team leadership.
- Vendor management – proven ability and experience in managing vendor performance.
- Quality – possesses a continuous improvement and quality mindset along with a desire to continuously seek and incorporate best practices and technologies in order to optimize program delivery and deliver value to the client.
- Computer proficiency – proficient in and experience with MS Office suite of applications along with proven ability to quickly learn new applications.
One or more of the following would be considered an asset:
- Project Management Institute Accreditation or in progress.
- LEED certification or in progress.
- Engineer in training.
- Valid Driver’s License.
This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $96,322 - $120,402 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education, professional designations and performance related to this role.
