Job Summary:
Reporting directly to the Director of Merchandising and Product Compliance, the Product Compliance Manager is responsible for leading and managing regulatory compliance across BEL USA’s promotional product portfolio. This role ensures that all products meet applicable safety, chemical, labeling, and marketplace requirements while supporting product development, sourcing, and go-to-market initiatives.
This role plays a critical part in mitigating risk and protecting the company by ensuring accurate product testing, maintaining audit-ready documentation, and enforcing compliance standards across a high-volume SKU environment. The Product Compliance Manager works cross-functionally with Merchandising, Sourcing, Product Development, Operations, and factory partners to drive regulatory adherence, support product selection decisions, and establish scalable compliance processes that enable efficient and compliant growth across all sales channels.
Essential Functions:
- Own and manage product compliance programs end-to-end, ensuring all products meet regulatory, customer, and marketplace requirements prior to launch.
- Review and validate factory-provided test reports and certifications for compliance with applicable standards.
- Advise merchandising and product teams on compliance risks during product selection and development.
- Maintain centralized, audit-ready compliance documentation, including test reports, GCCs, CPCs, and regulatory certificates.
- Develop and manage systems to track compliance status across a large and diverse SKU portfolio.
- Monitor and interpret regulatory requirements, including Prop 65, PFAS, FDA (food contact), CPSIA, and applicable labeling laws.
- Translate regulatory requirements into actionable guidelines for sourcing, product development, and sales teams.
- Support compliance requirements for key customers (e.g., Walmart, McDonald’s, Amazon Business), including documentation, audits, and special requests.
- Track and manage compliance issues, including failed testing, missing or invalid documentation, and customer or regulatory inquiries.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action plans in collaboration with factory partners and internal stakeholders.
- Support product holds, recalls, relabeling efforts, and risk mitigation initiatives as needed.
- Lead vendor onboarding for compliance, including defining documentation requirements and ensuring supplier alignment.
- Monitor ongoing vendor compliance performance and maintain up-to-date supplier documentation.
- Partner with sourcing and operations teams to assess supplier risk and improve compliance consistency.
- Provide regular reporting on compliance status, risks, and key metrics to leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance compliance processes and documentation systems.
- Support factory and supplier engagement, including occasional on-site visits or product reviews as needed. This position requires periodic travel, which may include domestic and/or international trips.

Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Quality Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as RAC, ASQ (CQE/CQA), ISO auditing, or regulatory compliance training (CPSIA, Prop 65, FDA) are a plus.
Experience Required:
- Minimum of 3–7+ years of experience in product compliance, regulatory affairs, or quality assurance within promotional products, consumer goods, or import manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing compliance for high-volume SKU portfolios, including tracking and maintaining product-level documentation.
- Hands-on experience working with overseas factories and supplier-driven testing models, including reviewing and validating factory-provided test reports and certifications.
- Strong working knowledge of key regulations impacting promotional products, including CPSIA, California Prop 65, FDA (food contact), PFAS, and applicable labeling requirements.
- Experience coordinating product compliance across multiple product categories such as drinkware, bags, electronics, apparel, and hardgoods.
- Proven ability to manage and resolve compliance issues, including failed testing, documentation gaps, and corrective action implementation.
- Experience onboarding and managing vendor compliance, including defining documentation requirements and ensuring ongoing supplier adherence.
- Familiarity with e-commerce and distributor compliance requirements (e.g., Amazon, large distributors, SAGE/ASI environments) is preferred.
- Strong experience building, maintaining, and improving compliance tracking systems, documentation processes, and SOPs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data tracking/reporting tools; experience with ERP, PLM, or compliance management systems is a plus.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience working with sourcing, merchandising, product development, and operations teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
