We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Support Worker to join our Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) service based in Fyshwick, ACT.
About the role:
The Senior Support Worker plays a key role in supporting participants and assisting Support Workers to deliver safe, structured, and recovery-oriented services in line with The Salvation Army’s guidelines and National Model of Care.
Working within a participant-led service environment, this role provides operational support, mentoring, and guidance to support staff while contributing directly to quality service delivery and participant wellbeing.
This position is based in Fyshwick, ACT and is classified under SCHADS Level 4.
How you will make an impact
Support the delivery of recovery-oriented, participant-led services
Assist Support Workers with day-to-day operational and participant support requirements
Provide mentoring, guidance, and practical support to staff within the program
Contribute to a safe, structured, and supportive environment for participants
Participate in Integrated Governance Meetings and Team Meetings
Support continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery
Deliver support through education, interventions, group work, assessment, and referral
Ensure services are delivered in line with the National Model of Care
Assist participants to access community supports and referral pathways
Complete support work tasks in accordance with TSA policies and site procedures, including supervision of self-administration of medication and drug testing processes
Maintain professional and collaborative relationships with participants and external services
Undertake additional duties as required to support effective service delivery
What you will bring
Minimum Diploma qualification in Alcohol & Other Drugs, Community Services, Case Management, or a related discipline
Completion of the 4 AOD Skill Set Units (or willingness to complete during employment)
Knowledge of the AOD, gambling, community services, and health sectors, preferably within residential treatment settings
Demonstrated experience supporting people impacted by substance use, gambling, and mental health conditions
Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and people of varied faiths and backgrounds
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
Ability to support and guide staff in a collaborative team environment
Current ACT Driver Licence
