Abstract
The Life Science Solutions Technician provides hands-on technical support to the product and business development team and cross-functional engineering partners. The role builds, sets up, and maintains prototypes, fixtures, and lab equipment; prepares materials and test samples; and documents work to enable efficient development and validation. The technician troubleshoots technical issues and supports customer issue resolution by partnering with customer-facing teams to investigate root cause and implement corrective actions.

HP's Specialty Printing and Technology Systems business unit is chartered to leverage HP's printing technology assets to OEM's in a wide array of markets including Product Identification, Labels, Transactions, Postage, Mail Addressing, and Life Sciences markets. We repurpose these assets to address needs in vertical markets where HP's technology, performance, and reliability can bring value. The SPTS Engineering Organization is chartered to extend these assets with high-ROI solutions that fit the needs of these markets through specialty inks, printheads, enablers and full imaging solutions.
Tremendous opportunities exist to leverage HP print technologies and apply them to create new applications in the Life Sciences. The SPTS Life Science Solutions business is one new Life Science business that HP has already launched. We develop and sell dispensing products that leverage HP’s world-class inkjet printing technology.
Position Overview:
The Life Science Solutions Technician partners closely with engineering to develop, maintain, and support test equipment and life science instruments throughout development and in the field. This role assembles, disassembles, services, and troubleshoots instruments and experimental setups; runs standardized software test procedures to verify functionality and support release readiness; supports investigations tied to customer support escalations; and helps drive timely resolution through clear documentation and hands-on testing. The technician also manages day-to-day lab operations, including organizing work areas, procuring supplies, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and coordinating installation and setup of new equipment.
Responsibilities:
Partner with customer support engineer to resolve customer issues
Own instrument servicing
Partner with engineers to develop test equipment
Manage Trellis lab upkeep and supply ordering
Partner with team to resolve product development technical issues
Manage shipping logistics
Manage demonstration set up
Manage logistics of new equipment set up
Run standardized tests for SW qualification
Minimum Qualifications:
2+ years of experience working with TIJ related instruments and/or supporting an engineering team
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems
Experience working on cross functional teams
BS in a technical/science major
Excellent communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
Biology, biochemistry or similar knowledge/experience
SW test experience
Machining experience
The pay range for this position is $24 to $34 USD per hour (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
