Chubb Bermuda Insurance Ltd. invites applications for the position of Assistant Vice President, Finance.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Segment reporting lead. Manage the forecast and plan processes and oversee the monthly and quarterly segment reporting:
- Requires development of strategic and tactical planning and analysis materials working with Executive Leadership and Executive level Underwriting, Actuarial and Finance professionals
- Review and preparation of executive commentaries and presentations
- Coordinating workflow with various departments in Bermuda and offices overseas
- Provide training to team members when required to identify and resolve data issues and assist in analyzing insurance KPI trends
- Hold planning and progress meetings with various stakeholders
- Ownership of the governance process for the five largest Chubb Bermuda-based (re)insurers. Managing tasks including but not limited to:
- Developing the Agendas for the respective meetings and working with the relevant teams, including Finance, Risk Committees, General Council as well as guest presenters/stakeholders on the required content for the meetings.
- Overseeing and assisting with preparation of quarterly reporting packages for Board of Directors meetings for all entities.
- Co-ordinating and attending the Board of Directors meetings across entities and overseeing the preparation of in-depth analyses (“deep dives”) and other ad hoc deliverables requested by the Board.
- Collaborating with Bermuda controllers and executive management to enhance legal entity-centric processes, including monitoring investment income, collateral, reserve activity, financial reporting, audit matters, liquidity and capital, and regulatory compliance on a quarterly basis.
- Regular Board meeting de-briefs and governance strategy sessions with the CFO and the Independent Non-Executive Director
- Review and some preparation of analysis on gross & net written premium (policy level data) as well as commission data points, against comparative scenarios. Reporting and analyzing premium rate and exposure, premium retention and preparing monthly premium management reports with commentary. Working with actuarial and underwriting teams and utilizing strong excel skills
- Reviewing and preparation of various management financial reports with analysis supporting insurance ratios, trends, and other key performance indicators for executive management
- Reviewing and participating in monthly and quarterly general ledger close activities, including but not limited to preparing journal entries, data analysis and reconciliations. This work requires clear documentation, timely submission of files, follow up with other stakeholders for resolution of issues and escalation to management in a timely manner for unresolved issues
- Improving processes and reengineering. Including writing and testing accounting reports/tools using excel, TM1 and other accounting/analytical software
- Collaborating with other Chubb entities registered in Bermuda on centralized deliverables and provide ad hoc support to these entities as required
- Participating in the preparation of the annual statutory filing for class 4 insurer
- Delegating effectively to direct reports and shared resources, supervising performance, reviewing work product and providing feedback and coaching
- Other:
- Completing various ad hoc and urgent report requests
- Self-review of work product and use of project workflow tracker
- Keeping management informed on the status of various tasks and projects
- Chartered Public Accountant designation
- Minimum of three years of insurance experience
- Minimum of three years Big 4 public accounting experience
- High degree of executive presence, maturity and judgement given frequent interactions with the heights of executive management
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, data analysis and critical thinking
- Ability to work overtime and meet tight deadlines
- Demonstrated experience performing similar duties
- Strong organizational, communication and time management skills
- Proven track record of people management, including influence and authority over non-direct reports
