The Planning Engineer is responsible for supporting the operational readiness, associated documentation packages, logistics, and technical follow‑up of special subsea equipment, related deployment tools and subsea cable laying equipment. The role ensures equipment availability, compliance with governing rules and standards, and smooth coordination between the company’s base, vessels, and offshore teams. The candidate will need to have broad technical knowledge in order to understand the equipment’s technical specifications, manufacturing, and repair/maintenance processes, while being able to plan and schedule related maintenance/repair works.
Responsibilities
Equipment & Vessel Technical Follow‑Up
- Monitor operational status and progress of subsea trenchers, ROVs and related equipment.
- Track vessel spreads’ open issues and corrective actions.
- Support technical troubleshooting by liaising with company’s respective technical experts and offshore teams.
- Conducts on-site checks and measurements.
- Possibility of traveling to employer sites (domestically and globally) as required to implement mobilizations/repairs.
Spares Monitoring & Logistics
- In collaboration with offshore teams, maintain accurate records of spare parts usage and stock levels, to ensure availability of critical components to avoid operational downtime.
- Coordinate shipments and logistics to/from vessels and worksites.
- Ordering using company’s ERP system (SAP) and respective follow up.
Technical Documentation & Compliance
- Plan accordingly, prepare and manage documentation required by clients or project governance (e.g., MWS, class societies, IMCA, etc.).
- In collaboration with offshore teams, maintain all operational documentation, such as fault reports, short‑form reports, maintenance logs, and configuration records.
- Support the creation and updating of equipment technical dossiers and certification packages.
Data Collection & Preliminary Analysis
- Collect and maintain subsea equipment’s operational data from vessel and offshore teams’ reports.
- Perform preliminary analysis to identify trends, failures, or performance deviations.
- Support root‑cause investigations and technical evaluations.
Procedures & Standards Development
- Draft and revise procedures, manuals, and work instructions.
- Ensure documentation aligns with governing rules, regulatory requirements, and internal standards.
- Support audits and verification processes related to equipment readiness and maintenance.
Planning & Coordination of Works
- Planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance, mobilization/demobilization, and refurbishment works.
- Liaise with internal departments (engineering, operations, logistics) to ensure timely task execution.
- Prepare work scopes and follow up on progress until completion.
QHSE
- Adheres to all compliance and auditing requirements for the conduct of ethical and transparent operations including compliance to all ASSO Group policies, guidelines and procedures.
- Complies with Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures and compliance with all audits and inspections.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, etc.) such as one would receive at a university, technical trade school, etc.
- 2 years of related engineering work experience. Exposure to the maritime/offshore industry will be considered a plus.
- Clear and effective oral and written communication skills in English language.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ideally MS Project or similar Project Scheduling software.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Proven strong organizational and planning capabilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel to offshore sites for estimated 45 days per year, if required.
