What this role is all about:
The Treasury Analyst provides essential support to the Treasury team across operational, analytical, and compliance functions. This role contributes to Beem’s strategic goals by assisting in daily treasury activities, regulatory reporting, liquidity and capital management, Asset Liability Management (ALM), financial analysis, and policy support. The Analyst works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
This is a hybrid role accessible to onsite work out of our Burnaby Hub.
What you’ll do:
Treasury Operations & Product Support
- Support branch inquiries related to term deposits, foreign exchange rate approvals, early redemptions, and other requests.
- Reconcile Treasury-related general ledger accounts and assist with monthly journal entries (e.g., MLP, SWAPS, escalator term deposits).
- Update rate bulletins, branch matrix schedules, and FX rates across systems.
- Assist with foreign exchange transactions to resolve mismatches from member activity.
- Support statutory investment activities (e.g., MLP) and investment of excess liquidity through authorized dealers.
- Assist with managing MUSH and Agency deposits, including commission reports and wire transfers.
- Liaise with Agency brokers (e.g., Canaccord, Raymond James) for deposit transactions.
Reporting, Compliance & Risk Monitoring
- Assist in preparing regulatory reports including Liquidity Adequacy Ratio (‘LAR’), Liquidity Coverage Ratio (‘LCR’), Net Cumulative Cash Flow (‘NCCF’), Daily Liquidity Call, and CMHC reports.
- Support quarterly compliance and covenant reporting for credit facilities.
- Contribute to enterprise risk metric reporting (ERM) and ensure data accuracy.
- Prepare reports on large depositors, scheduled maturities, and CMHC Flow and Stock Data.
- Stay informed on regulatory changes impacting treasury operations.
Liquidity, Capital & ALM Support
- Monitor daily cash and treasury positions and support short- and long-term liquidity forecasting.
- Assist in monitoring capital adequacy to support operations and strategic initiatives.
- Compile month-end data for input into the ALM model and assist with assumptions and back-testing.
- Support monthly ALM assessments and monthly ALCO reporting.
- Assist with financial margin forecasting, budgeting, and ad hoc scenario planning (e.g., mergers/acquisitions).
Market Analysis & Pricing
- Conduct rate comparisons and market trend analysis to support competitive pricing strategies.
- Assist in recommending term deposit and FX rate structures and support special promotional offerings.
- Maintain discretionary pricing guidelines for branch staff and support updates to economic data repositories.
Policy & Stress Testing and Strategic Initiative Support
- Assist in maintaining and updating treasury-related policies and plans (Liquidity, Capital, ICAAP).
- Support the ongoing liquidity stress testing and collaborate with BCFSA and peer credit unions on periodic stress testing.
- Provide support for strategic initiatives with a Treasury focus, as assigned.
What you'll bring:
- Accounting or Treasury designation (CPA, CTP, CFA, FRM, etc) or working towards would be an asset
- Minimum of 1-3 years’ progressive experience in finance functions, or financial risk management within complex organizational environments.
- Proven experience and ability to work towards deadlines under time constraints
- Basic understanding of financial modeling, forecasting, and the development of policy guidelines.
- Strong communication skills, complemented by a proven ability to influence decision making through accurate data and analytics.
Compensation
Annual salary range: $69,500 - $81,800
