Job Title
Dealer
Job Description
So, who are we?
IG is a FTSE 100 fintech operating across five continents, serving over 1.3m customers and handling billions of dollars in transactions – built on scale, trust, and proof. We didn't pivot to innovation; it's how we've always operated. What that means for the people who work here is real: genuinely complex problems to solve, the technology and resources to tackle them properly, and the kind of scope that's rare in established businesses. The bar is high – bring a curious and forward-thinking mindset and we'll give you the platform to define what comes next.
Join us at IG – The Future Gets Built Here.
Your team
The Equity Desk sits within IG’s Trading function and is responsible for the pricing, risk management, and hedging of IG’s equity products as well as oversight of share dealing, ISA's and SIPP's — across UK, European, US, and Asia-Pacific markets. We manage a book covering thousands of single-stock names/ETFs and work closely with prime brokers, quantitative analysts, and technology teams to continuously improve execution quality and outcomes.
Your role in the Team's Success
As a Dealer on the Equity Desk you will be directly involved in the day-to-day management of IG’s equity trading book. You will monitor live positions, manage intraday risk within defined parameters, and ensure accurate pricing and high-quality execution for clients. You will also support analytical and project work that drives improvements to the desk’s systems, processes, and commercial performance. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about equity markets and wants to build a career in a technology-led, multi-asset trading business.
What you'll do
- Risk Management & Hedging: Monitor and manage intraday risk arising from IG’s equity products, ensuring exposures remain within approved limits. Oversee automated hedging systems and execute manual hedges with external liquidity providers when required. Understand the logic behind automated systems and intervene appropriately when issues arise.
- Best Execution: Ensure that fair outcomes are achieved for client orders and that all executions are consistent with IG’s obligations under its Order Execution Policy. Act as the first point of response for client disputes.
- Systems & Development: Contribute to the development and testing of trading tools, pricing models, and automated execution systems in collaboration with quantitative and technology teams. Help specify and prioritise system improvements.
- Operational Incident Management: Act as a front-line point of contact for operational incidents, client communication, and dispute resolution. Diagnose and escalate system or dealer errors promptly.
- Knowledge & Compliance: Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of dealing systems, procedures, and relevant regulation. Ensure new policies are understood and consistently applied.
- Projects: Participate in ad-hoc initiatives related to new product launches, market expansion, liquidity provider onboarding, prime brokerage relationships, and regulatory change.
