Main Duties
- Act as the first point of contact for designated customer contracts (contracts over $150k, high risk or longer than 1 year in duration).
- Manages Samuel’s risk exposure from contracts while maintaining good working relationships with internal and external partners.
- Assesses when to consult with legal counsel, finance and other internal business partners.
- Develop and implement the contract management guidelines.
- Responsible for reviewing contracts, bids, letters and related documents for compliance with company policies and processes.
- Develop appropriate relationships and communication with internal and external contacts.
- Work closely with Samuel’s sales professionals, customers and other business partners (including finance and procurement) to communicate and implement agreement terms.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date contract records, logs and reports.
- Monitor long term agreements.
- Implement and maintain CLM.
- Provide support in the event of contract disputes.
- Support Chief Compliance Officer with respect to regulatory filings, screenings and supplier due diligence mapping
Experience and Knowledge
- Must possess a minimum of 5+ years of general contracts management experience in a customer orientated environment.
- Must have exceptional people-management skills. This is critical as the Legal team cannot be perceived as a barrier to commercial/operational decisions.
- Excellent facility with language and ability to draft clear, unambiguous contract terms.
- Prefer experience in a construction/manufacturing related field.
- Ability to manage and prioritize a high workload.
- Proven problem-solving skills as well as strong business acumen and analysis skill. Uses logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Must possess excellent communication (both written and verbal), influencing and negotiating skills, allowing the effective communication of complex information to a wide variety of audiences and leveraging for the best outcome.
- High level presentation skills in a variety of presentation settings: one-on-one, small and large groups, with peers, and with senior leadership.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or college equivalent. Additional training in law or business is an asset.
Nature and Scope
- Remote position; no travel required (option to attend annual team meeting in person).
