Risk Validation and Reporting Lead

We have an exciting opportunity for a Risk Validation and Reporting Lead to join Heartland Bank Australia’s Risk team. This role sits within Financial Risk & Credit and plays a critical role in strengthening the bank’s risk reporting, insight and governance capability.

You will play a key role in maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of Heartland Bank Australia’s risk management framework. Working closely with senior risk leaders and stakeholders across the business, you will lead the development and delivery of risk reporting, dashboards and insights that support sound, evidence‑based decision‑making at executive and Board levels.
You will also support the ongoing monitoring and validation of risk models, identify emerging risk trends and contribute to continuous improvement across the Risk function. You will always act ethically and with integrity, ensuring your work aligns with Heartland’s Values and supports strong risk outcomes for the bank.

You are an analytical and detail‑focused risk professional who enjoys working with data, translating insight into clear narratives, and engaging with stakeholders at all levels. You are comfortable balancing competing priorities, working across financial and non‑financial risk domains, and taking ownership of complex reporting and validation activities.
Key responsibilities:
Developing and maintaining enterprise‑level risk dashboards, early warning indicators and risk reporting
Preparing and coordinating reporting for the Risk Management Committee and supporting Board Risk Committee reporting
Analysing risk data to identify emerging trends, systemic issues and areas requiring management attention
Providing clear, well‑evidenced risk insights for senior leaders and governance forums
Monitoring the performance of risk and credit models, identifying model drift, data quality issues and performance concerns
Supporting periodic risk model validation activities and tracking remediation actions
Administering the bank’s GRC system, ensuring data integrity and consistent use across the Risk function
Building strong working relationships across Risk, Finance, Technology and the business
Supporting responses to regulatory, audit and governance queries
Contributing to continuous improvement of risk reporting and analytical practices
You’re a pro with:
Risk reporting, analytics or validation experience within a regulated financial services environment
Designing dashboards, reports and early warning indicators using tools such as Power BI and Excel
Synthesising complex data into clear, meaningful insights for technical and non‑technical audiences
Strong attention to detail, judgement and analytical rigour
Working collaboratively while taking ownership of outcomes
Ideally, you will also bring experience with:
Risk model monitoring and validation methodologies
Credit risk and non‑financial risk frameworks
APRA prudential standards and risk governance requirements for ADIs
GRC systems and risk data management
Engaging with senior leaders, committees and auditors
