Maternal and Child Health Nurse (Sleep Settling Program)

About the role 

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self‑motivated Maternal and Child Health Nurse to deliver holistic, family‑centred care to families with children aged 0–6 years. The role promotes optimal health and wellbeing within the community in accordance with Maternal and Child Health Service Guidelines.

In the Sleep and Settling Outreach role, you will deliver evidence-informed, tailored support to families experiencing sleep and settling concerns with children accessing the MCH Service. The Sleep and Settling Outreach MCH nurse will provide intensive, one-on-one, in-home consultations and telehealth consultation directly addressing sleep challenges and fostering confident parenting. 

The MCH nursing teams work collaboratively with others across the broader Family & Children’s Services teams, and across Council to help to identify children and families who require further assessment, intervention, referral and/or support and bring families together, foster social networks, support playgroups and strengthen local community connections

The Maternal Child Health Team supports all staff to work across more specific programs such as Enhanced Maternal and Child Health, Sleep and Settling Outreach, Breastfeeding Support Service and Special Care nursery liaison when available. 

The position is offered on a permanent part‑time basis at 0.6 FTE, however we can offer a range of flexible work options for the right candidate.

This is an MCH classified role, remuneration will be $117,158.99 - $123,934.08 (depending on experience) (pro-rata for part time) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.

What you will bring to this role  

The key selection criteria for this role are:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Have an understanding of family dynamics and societal complexities
• Experience working with families from a broad spectrum of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
• Demonstrated understanding of Child and Family Violence Information Sharing Schemes and risk assessment frameworks
• Have well-developed skills in MS Office Suite, Child Development Information Systems (CDIS) and Electronic Data Management Systems.
• Have a current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a registered nurse and a registered midwife and to also hold recognised qualifications in Maternal and Child Health nursing
