Job Summary The overall purpose of this position is to act as a Data Steward responsible for inspecting, cleaning, transforming, and modeling data with the goal of highlighting useful information, suggesting conclusions, and supporting decision making.
The incumbent in this position is primarily responsible for monitoring and preserving data integrity in support of IEEE goals and aspirations so that IEEE can operate efficiently and provide quality service. Also, should be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, such as, finding and correcting errors performing root cause analysis, leading projects, as well as utilize critical thinking skills to constantly improve processes.
Accurate metadata maintenance plays a major role in the following areas: - Elimination of data related errors. - Reduction in volume of inquiries, replacement orders, and follow up correspondence - More accurate label selection, therefore improving publication delivery. - Improvement of the accuracy and completeness of metadata for directory products. - Integrity of financial transaction integration and related reporting. - Supports effective collaboration and communication.
The role typically reports to a Manager and manages 0 direct reports. This position works under the Manager of Data Management.
Key Responsibilities
Establish new, and modify existing policies, procedures and controls for the general metadata database, as requires. General metadata includes: Customer & Member records, financial transactions, and Lists of Values (LOVs), and Service Providing Organizations (SPOs)
Collaborate with Data Stewards & Data Analysts who have identified data quality issues and help design, create & implement Data Quality Reports to address and/or monitor these issues and/or suggest system enhancements.
Work independently on error/exceptions lists, cleaning up meta-data as required and performing analysis of root cause.
Support Enterprise Releases for system enhancements, upgrades and user acceptance testing (UAT) by: executing and coordinating tests with Business User and IT QA, as needed; ensuring Test Plans are kept up to date; and communicating processing/system changes to user groups.
Effectively identify and analyze system/processing errors and drive solutions to resolve problems.
Work closely with business users and Data Quality Associates to understand data relationships and uses, understand root cause of data issues, share assessments, implement solutions and measure results.
Drive both proactive and reactive recommendations for data quality improvements and system enhancements by understanding and performing detailed analysis on findings/results from DQ reports.
Participate in annual renewal process, by reviewing test bills for accuracy for correct data/pricing.
Lead/Participate in cross-functional, interdepartmental teams and special projects related to data integrity, billing and system processing in support of IEEE initiatives.
Ensure company policies and procedures are followed, controls are in place, deadlines are met, and data is accurate.
Ensure that data quality procedures, strategies, rules and workflows are documented and kept up to date.
Provide guidance and direction to processing groups (Member Operations, Contact Center, Online Support & Reprints) for schedule, handoffs & resolution of issues.

Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience relevant to core functions, such as data quality, management, auditing, accounting, or business administration Req
Work Experience
2-4 years data quality related experience. IEEE experience and working knowledge of IEEE, including an understanding of IEEE Products & Services as well as IEEE By-Laws a plus Req
Skills and Requirements
Data Quality Management skills are preferred
Organizational, project management, and analytical skills required to prioritize workload, manage multiple tasks, and manage data quality.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, customer service and communication skills required.
The ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines, along with the ability to work independently, are required.
Good business acumen necessary.
He or she must be a technologically savvy worker who seeks out technology solutions to business challenges.
Should have proficiency in all aspects of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word Documents and Excel. Power Point would be a plus.
Strong e-mail communication skills and etiquette needed to communicate with other departments.
Knowledge of Siebel, Oracle & Google packages and image processing will be a plus.
