Social Video Journalist (f/m/d) DW Taipei Bureau
We are seeking for the DW Taipei Bureau in Taipei as of 1 June 2026 or as soon as possible a Social Video Journalist (f/m/d) based on an unlimited full-time local staff employment contract.
Your challenges
- social and video news production including on-camera presence
- pitching international news stories; conducting interviews, writing scripts, and developing social media content
- production of short-form video content, including scripting, filming, and editing
- presenting on camera to deliver news reports, explain breaking developments, and provide analysis
- independent management of the full production workflow, from story selection and scripting to filming and publishing
- editorial planning and team collaboration; rotating as planner, contributing to editorial planning and news agenda setting while collaborating closely with colleagues in DW’s Bonn, Berlin, and Taipei offices
- editing and quality assurance; handling translation, writing, editing, and publishing of news content while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong public value in all outputs
Your qualifications
- degree in journalism, communications, or other related field, or equivalent qualification
- relevant professional experience with proficiency in video production (filming and editing) and in-depth understanding of social media dynamics
- strong on-camera presence with clear and confident verbal communication skills
- native level language proficiency in Chinese (level C2) as well as professional language proficiency in English (min. C1 level) (for news writing and translation) required; additional knowledge of German an advantage
- high sensitivity to international news and solid fact-checking skills
- ability to work in interdisciplinary and diverse teams, high level of intercultural sensitivity and respect for diversity
