KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver adequate and timely reporting on the internal control framework and control deficiencies identified during resolution of issues or general ledger reviews to ensure appropriate documentation and/or escalation to business partners/senior management.
- Work collaboratively with business and process owners to implement and monitor remediation efforts that result from checks performed, audit functions as well as exceptions identified by external bodies where required for effective implementation of corrective actions.
- Actively suggest standardization, automation and implementation of best practices and innovative technology where possible to enhance and improve the design and operating effectiveness of the controls.
- Actively and continuously engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure validation of all related activities and/or exceptions aimed at mitigating risk exposures.
- Responsible for monitoring compliance to timelines and appraisal of the soundness and effectiveness of closure evidences.
- Liaise with stakeholders to ensure timely escalation of major exceptions, overdue and failed issues.
- Prepare reports on findings & trends as a basis for recommending improvements in the efficiency of the process and reduction in risk exposure.
- Evaluate related risks identified in processes and procedures which may lead to fraud, theft, embezzlement, defalcation/misappropriation of assets and make recommendations.
- Conduct assigned audit confirmation and ensure reliable information is shared with the requesting unit.
- Conduct error reversal inline with the bank’s error reversal policy.
- Perform any other responsibility assigned by the line manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Essential
- A good first degree from a reputable university
- A post graduate and/or professional qualification e.g. ACCA, CA, CISA is an advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of reconciliation process and rules on GL procedures.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Sound understanding of the core banking application and related systems.
- Working knowledge of most internal accounts used for banking services
- Good knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) procedures
- At least a three year experience in a similar role with a proven track record
Preferred
- Previous experience in a Reconciliation, Finance, Compliance, Audit roles.
- Numeracy and IT skills
INFORMATION SECURITY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Abide by the bank’s ISMS (Information Security Management Systems) policies and procedures.
- Safeguard the bank’s information assets in accordance with its ISMS policies and procedures.
COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Undertake the annual mandatory refresher training organised by Compliance.
- Report all suspicious or fraudulent activities to Compliance or via whistle-blowing toll free line.
