Main purpose of the job:
- To act as the Local Lead competent person for H&S-E&IR as defined by the local Environmental, Health and Safety Regulations.
- To ensure the Site complies with current H&S-E&IR Regulations and Company’s Policies and Standards.
- To work proactively with Departmental Managers to establish and maintain a system that promotes a culture of safe working practices across the site.
- To provide direct management and leadership of the local Environment, Health and Safety Team and to coordinate the activities of the H&S Support function
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Review legislation and monitor compliance with H&S-E&IR regulations and Aperams Environmental, Health & Safety Policies and programs.
- Provide guidance and technical assistance in identifying, evaluating and correcting Environmental, Health & Safety hazards.
- Take a leading role in Environmental, Health & Safety policy development in collaboration with the Global Head of Health & Safety and Global Head of Environment & IR.
- Provide expert advice and assistance on Environmental, Health & Safety issues.
- Provide training materials, assistance and programs in safe work practices.
- Provide guidance on the effective emergency management and business continuity programs, assist in the implementation of emergency procedures and training.
- Provide guidance on effective fire prevention programs.
- Conduct Environmental, Health & Safety audits and inspections.
- Support an Aperam wide network of Environment, Health & Safety personnel and committees.
- Provide a Health & Wellbeing program for all staff.
Education : Graduation/Post Graduation in Industrial Safety
Experience: 15-20 Years
Skills and Ability:
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written and interpersonal skills and ability to challenge constructively.
- Effective team working and networking skills and the ability to work independently using own initiative.
- A relevant professional qualification according to legal requirements.
- The ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload.
- Extensive knowledge of effective Environment, Health & Safety management strategies and best practice.
