Base Salary $89,755 - $100,495 + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
As the Ethics Administration Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the human and animal research ethics office within Research Integrity & Ethics Administration. You will provide high‑quality administrative support, coordinate committee processes, maintain compliance systems and ensure researchers receive timely, accurate guidance throughout ethics applications and review workflows.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
process and prepare correspondence to researchers regarding ethics committee decisions, including approvals, conditional approvals and other notifications
respond to general enquiries related to human and animal research ethics requirements, escalating complex matters to Ethics Officers or Ethics Managers where appropriate
maintain systems including the myResearch Ethics application system, databases and TRIM to manage applications, modifications, progress reports and records
prepare monthly agendas and documentation for human and animal ethics committees
manage, track and process annual and final reports from researchers
coordinate AEC and HREC meetings, including logistics, catering and secretariat support
identify opportunities to streamline ethics processes and assist in developing improved procedures
assist in delivering and administering training programs for students, staff and committee members, including registrations, payment processing, certificates and travel bookings
provide flexible administrative support across the research integrity team to meet operational deadlines, including leave coverage when required.
About you
tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, or equivalent training and experience
strong organisational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
experience providing administrative support within higher education, research, governance or compliance environments
strong liaison and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
proficiency in database management, spreadsheets, document‑management systems and online application platforms
well‑developed written communication skills, including drafting correspondence, preparing agendas and taking minutes
ability to coordinate meetings, committees or events efficiently and professionally
an understanding of research environments, ethics requirements and governance frameworks (desirable)
