About the opportunity
As a Policy Officer, you will join a high-performing team within the Office of General Counsel, contributing to a major project to enhance and modernise the University’s policy framework. You will play a key role in ensuring policy documents are clear, accessible, compliant and aligned to strategic priorities, supporting effective decision-making across the institution.
Working closely with policy and document owners across the University, you will drive best-practice policy development, embed continuous improvement processes, and uplift policy capability across stakeholder groups. This role offers variety, stakeholder engagement and the opportunity to influence how policy supports operational excellence and compliance in a complex environment.
Key responsibilities
Provide high-level policy analysis, development and advisory support to internal stakeholders
Draft and review policy documents to ensure they are clear, fit-for-purpose and compliant
Partner with business areas to implement policy review cycles and improvement initiatives
Identify legislative and regulatory obligations and translate them into effective policy
Facilitate consultation, engagement and training to build policy capability across teams
Contribute to reporting, continuous improvement activities and broader policy projects
About you
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Demonstrated experience in policy development, analysis or governance within a complex organisation
Strong drafting skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise and plain language documentation
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Sound understanding of compliance, risk and the role of policy in organisational effectiveness
