We are seeking an exceptional academic leader to serve as Tumu Maruaia – Provost. This is a pivotal role at the centre of the University’s academic leadership. Reporting to the Tumu Whakarae - Vice-Chancellor and working as a core member of Te Hiwa (the senior leadership team), the Provost plays a central role in aligning academic priorities with institutional strategy. 

Working in close partnership with the Deans and senior leaders, the Provost leads the University’s academic mission through influence and collaboration, shaping a high-performing and inclusive academic community.  The role works in partnership with the Deputy Vice Chancellor Māori, and Māori leaders, to advance equity, support staff and student success, and embed Te Tiriti-led approaches across the academic portfolio. The role also works with the Assistant Vice Chancellor Pasifika to support the aspirations and accomplishments of Pasifika staff and students

The successful candidate will bring a distinguished academic record, significant senior leadership experience, and a demonstrated ability to lead within complexity and through change. They will combine strategic clarity with sound judgement, financial and organisational acumen, and the ability to translate institutional aspiration into tangible outcomes. They will be an authentic and persuasive leader—able to build trust, align diverse perspectives, and enable others to succeed.

Ka mahitahi me te Tumu Ahurei ki te  kōkiri i ngā kaupapa mana taurite, tautoko i ngā kaimahi, me ngā kaupapa kia eke ai ngā tauira, ā, kia noho Te Tiriti ki roto i ngā kaupapa ako, rangahau hoki. Ka mahi hoki tēnei tangata me te Iho ā-Kiwa ki te tautoko kia eke ai ngā whāinga me ngā wawata o ngā kaimahi me ngā Tauira o Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa.

He manu whititua mātauranga te tangata ka tohua, inā, e kitea nei tāna whakapuaki i tōna hautipua i roto i ngā takahuritanga me ngā panonitanga uaua. Mā ēnei me ōna māramatanga ki ngā mahi rautaki, tahua pūtea, me ngā hangana o te whare wānanga, tae atu ki tō rātou mōhio ki te poipoi i ngā whāinga kia puta ai he hua. 

He tino tūranga tēnei i tēnei wā e kōrure ana te rāngai mātauranga. Ko tā te Tumu Maruaia, he āwhina ki te ārahi i te anamata o Te Herenga Waka kia pakari ai tōna pūtake mātauranga, ā, kia eke tonu tōna mana ki Aotearoa me tāwāhi hoki rā.

Rārangi Pūmanawa: Whakapā mai ki konei kia kite i te roanga atu o ngā kōrero.  Ki te kore e rite tēnei, tirohia te whārangi mō ngā mahi e wātea ana ki te ipurangi o te Whare Wānanga.
