Overview
The role is responsible to provide application packaging and deployment services across the End User Computing environment, Windows, Mac and Virtual IT Services. This includes ensuring that a variety of applications and plug-ins can be deployed and managed in the environment efficiently and critical to ensuring that common plug-ins are kept up to date and security vulnerabilities are patched in a timely fashion. It also requires extensive knowledge of application packaging tools used to develop, deploy and manage the End User Computing estate, including managing the IT Services managed License servers, including annual license changes, patching and upgrades.
The role also supports improving standards and practices for Application Packaging services and platforms, while applying practical judgement and creativity to identify the best approaches and solutions to complex situations. This position is an integral part of the whole IT team and works closely with Infrastructure, Operational Systems, Security, Architecture and Business Application teams.
Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities
Strategic Focus
- Experience in coordinating and managing release management, test plans, testing, and user acceptance testing and change management
- Experience developing PowerShell scripts for administration/automation
- Experience with high availability, business continuity, and disaster recovery technologies
- Ensure environments are in line with the agreed architecture baseline and guidelines.
Operational Management
- To develop, test and maintain software packages for distribution to the End User Computing and Cloud environment, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise
- To build and maintain core applications for distribution to user desktops, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise
- To maintain effective local documentation including standard operating policies, standards, practices, procedures, best practices, and methodologies for application packaging
- Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve packaging issues compatibility problems and software conflicts.
- To develop and maintain skills in software packaging technologies, including assessing how they may be deployed into existing services or develop new ones
- Collaborate with cross functional team such as EUC, Infrastructure, security to gather requirements and ensure smooth integration and deployment of packaged application.
- Coordinate with the business stakeholders and vendors to align packaging activities with project timelines and objectives
- Resolve issues and requests within SLA, escalating as appropriate and drive resolution arising from Major Incidents, service outages, access breaches and data loss.
People Leadership
- Ensure team tasks are completed within agreed SLA time frames and agreed client specifications
- Establish and educate the team on quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy, integration, and the functionality of package application.
- Provide knowledge sharing and information support to the team’s development
Governance & Risk
- Reviewing IT processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and simplicity for the business and meet control objectives as set out by GS007, J-SOX, ISO27001 and other financial industry regulations.

Experience
- Expert knowledge of Windows Operating Environments
- Expert knowledge of modern management technologies, such as SCCM, Intune, AdminStudio, Windows Installer (MSI) technology, App-V sequencer and shimming applications
- Expert knowledge of software / application packaging / repackaging, VBScript, PowerShell and Wise Script
- Experience with Azure Active Directory, Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Software Update Service (WSUS)
- Citrix XenDesktop, XenApp
- General Networking Concepts - LAN/WAN technology integration
- Windows Operating Systems – Virtual, Thick and Thin Clients
- Strong skills in Office365, OneDrive, SharePoint, Project, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
- An appreciation of both IT and business strategy
- Microsoft Windows and Cloud technical experience
- Sound organizational skills, with the ability to priorities conflicting tasks in order to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to work within an on-call rotation and across 24x7 as and if needed
- Tertiary qualification in a related field Computer Science, Information Systems or Information Technology.
- ITIL, MCSE, MCSA, or similar qualifications
- At least 4+ years’ experience in a similar role
- Understanding of ISO 27001/2, GS007, COBIT, PMBOK, and ITIL frameworks
- Technical experience in a similar IT environment
- Knowledge of current IT trends
