Job Description:

WORK PERFORMED:
1. Post mail received to chronological, prepare letters in answer to defendant queries.
2. Hold initial interview(s) with new defendant(s) to insure their understanding of the terms of supervision, their responsibilities and financial obligations of supervision and the consequences of non-compliance.
3. Handle telephone queries from defendants and supervision officers handling courtesy supervision.
4. Review cases where payment delinquencies are present and compose letters to those defendants.
5. Prepare travel permits and/or intra-state transmittal letters and all appropriate computer updates.
6. Check records on monthly dismissals, forward correspondence accordingly to defendants and supervising counties.
7. Follow-up on DWI classes, Life Skills classes and Community Service Restitution completions.
8. Prepare cases for dismissal.
9. Prepare cases for transfer to satellite offices.
10. Request offense reports from local police departments and Department of Public Safety.
11. Perform other duties as required.
EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An Associates of Arts degree or equivalent in social services, counseling, criminal justice or a related field or two years’ experience with demonstrated ability to interview and write reports is desired. The individual should possess a thorough knowledge of interviewing and counseling procedures and practices. Other specialized job requirements include the ability to work with people. Diplomacy and tact are necessary. A valid driver’s license is required.
