Essential functions
Performs work-related duties as determined necessary or as assigned by the CSCD Office Manager, to include but not limited to the following: This position creates reports, memos, correspondence, and other documents and materials, using a computer and/or word processing software systems. Uses spreadsheet and/or data base software to input and retrieve information. Prepares and distributes various documents according to specific instructions or established guidelines. Makes and maintains manual and/or computerized office files and records and is responsible for sensitive or confidential files. This position is required to perform receptionist duties including greeting the public, answering the telephone, taking messages and providing information. Additionally required to open and distribute mail according to established guidelines. This position is required to work as back up cashier to include receiving or posting payments, issuing receipts, accounting of daily cash balances. This position is required to operate the (Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunication System) TLETS, and keep office machines functional, by contacting appropriate vender. Ensure that all urinalysis paperwork and supplies are available for office use. Contribute to a positive workplace atmosphere by communicating and performing in a professional manner with subordinates, coworkers, supervisors and the public. Maintain accurate personal time keeping records. All employees will be delegated additional duties as deemed necessary by immediate supervisor.

Education
Successful applicants must have a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Exclusions
A person employed as a peace officer is not eligible for appointment with the CSCD. A person who is currently on probation, bond, pre-trial bond, deferred supervision, parole or serving a sentence for a criminal offense is not eligible to be employed with the CSCD. All of these statuses create a conflict of interest.
Certifications And Licenses Required
If employee uses a personal or CSCD or County vehicle in the performance of CSCD related business, the employee shall possess a valid Texas driver's license and appropriate liability insurance. Must be qualified, and may be required to obtain certification as a notary public. Must meet requirements to operate the (Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunication System) TLETS.
Knowledge and Experience
Successful candidates should have at least one year of responsible clerical work experience, preferably with a government entity. Additionally they should have good knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, arithmetic, office practices, equipment, and materials. The successful applicant should have some knowledge of automated systems, procedures and applications. The successful applicant should have some basic knowledge of standard office operating procedures and practices.
Skills
Must possess the necessary skills needed to follow oral and written instructions. Communicate clearly, effectively and professionally. Establish and maintain moderately complex records and files. Apply and interpret rules or policies to routine or non-routine work situations. Prepare reports independently, complying with reporting guidelines using independent judgment to detect and remedy inconsistencies or other problems which may occur in the clerical area of the division .Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, facility residents and general public. Understand and follow oral and written instructions and directions. Type at least (50) fifty words per minute. Demonstrate the ability to operate a computer using standard word processing and data inquiry along with the ability to learn new software applications.
