

We're seeking someone to join our LIFC team as an Associate in Corporate Controllers, Reporting Accounting.
In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm's financial and capital resources.
The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firms books and records, and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley various businesses and its senior management team.
This is an Associate level position within the Corporate Controllers, Reporting & Accounting.

What you'll do in the role
- Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm
- Responsible for both individual and team deliverables and projects, leveraging knowledge of Finance functional area, tools and/or products
- Adhere to the Firm's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls
- Act as a culture carrier; embody the Firm's values and hold yourself accountable to Firm standards
- Review and analyze the daily, weekly and monthly profit and loss of the hedge accounting portfolios, including attribution, to ensure key drivers are in line with expectations.
- Specialized knowledge in Hedge accounting and Available for Sale accounting.
- Month-end close reconciliations (inclusive of balance sheet substantiation).
- Review of debt related disclosures (borrowings balance sheet, related 10Q/10K disclosures, and quarterly management reporting).
- Partner with Accounting Policy issues with respect to FAS 133 matters.
- Initiate process reengineering, improve efficiency, and work to improve IT systems.
- Ad hoc projects will be assigned and involve advising with Corporate Treasury, Corporate Risk Management, IT, etc. (e.g., new systems functionality testing, improving attribution).
What you'll bring to the role
- Advanced understanding of Finance functional area, product and/or client segment and technical skills, as well as of industry and competitive environment
- Ability to provide positive and constructive
- feedback and acknowledge efforts of team members
- Ability to articulate risk and impact to various audiences, and create plans to mitigate those risks
- Escalation management and strong partnership with Onshore stake holders
- Ability to make decisions based on facts with control mindset
- Capital Markets product controls experience preferred.- A strong controls background with the ability to design new controls and to challenge the operating effectiveness of existing controls.
- Willingness to take initiative to develop and improve processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.- Adept at working in a fast-paced, high-energy level environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
- At least 4 years; relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
