We’re hiring an Outreach Specialist to support Public Sector sustainability programs through a mix of fieldwork, customer education, and data support. This role focuses on waste audits, recycling and organics compliance, and community outreach across the Sherman Oaks area.
Location: Sherman Oaks, CA & Sun Valley, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

• Collect and enter waste, compliance, and diversion data
• Partner with internal Public Sector teams to support contract requirements

• Strong organization and time-management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

I. Job Summary
This entry level, hourly non-exempt Area position conducts regular site surveys and waste audits to ensure trash, organics, manure and recycling service levels comply with franchise contract requirements. This role will ensure type, size and location of bins as well as collection frequency meets franchise contract and WM requirements. This role may speak directly with customers to explain waste diversion, waste management and recycling services as well as the fee rate structure of the franchise contract and may escalate issues raised during site visits. With supervision this position may add, change and arrange new services to meet customer requirements, conduct on-site customer training programs, and perform other duties needed to meet franchise contract requirements. The work does not require discretion or independent judgement with respect to matters of significance. This position reports to the Franchise Account Supervisor, Area Public Sector Sales Manager, Municipal Marketing Manager or their designee.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct regular site surveys and waste audits to ensure trash, organics, manure and recycling service levels comply with franchise contract requirements.
Educate customer on the benefits of the recycling program and what goes in recycling bins.
Educate customers and their employees on the importance of recycling, food rescue and resource recovery as well as all City, State, and Federal mandates, and works with customers to implement services, increase recycling and reduce contamination.
Ensure type, size and location of bins as well as collection frequency meets franchise contract (if applicable) and WM requirements.
Other duties as assigned.

A. Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
6 months relevant work experience resulting in successfully obtaining customer appointments.
Current active state issued driver’s license.

Pay: The expected base pay range for this on-site position is $23.00 per hour. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
