Position Summary
The Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating company vehicles to pick up and deliver donated goods for the Habitat for Humanity Charlotte Region ReStores. This position ensures timely, safe, and professional service to donors and customers, while upholding Habitat’s mission, values, and customer service standards.
Essential Functions
Safely operate company trucks (16’–26’ straight trucks) in full compliance with DOT, DMV, and FMCSA regulations.
Maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record per Habitat Charlotte Region and insurance carrier standards.
Navigate assigned routes safely and efficiently while adhering to all traffic laws and organizational driving policies.
Complete daily donation pick-ups and deliveries according to the issued schedule.
Interact courteously and professionally with donors, volunteers, customers, and staff.
Provide accurate donation receipts and document accepted/rejected items according to ReStore donation standards.
Evaluate donations for acceptance following Habitat ReStore guidelines.
Load and unload donations safely, ensuring items are handled with care to prevent damage or injury.
Represent Habitat for Humanity Charlotte Region in a positive, professional manner at all times.
Maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform basic safety inspections, and report maintenance needs promptly.
Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
Follow all Habitat policies, including the Code of Conduct, safety protocols, and attendance requirements.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.
QualificationsQualifications
Required:
Ability to drive commercial motor vehicles (16’–26’ straight trucks).
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Dependable transportation to and from work.
Ability to pass a background check and any required driving assessments.
Preferred:
Prior customer service experience.
Experience operating box trucks or similar vehicles.
Skills and Abilities

Physical Demands
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted. Lifts exceeding 50 pounds require team lifting or mechanical assistance, which will be provided by Habitat Charlotte Region.
Frequent standing, squatting, bending, climbing stairs, and getting in and out of trucks throughout the workday.
Work performed outdoors and in warehouse/dock environments in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
