The ideal candidate would have experience in leading and managing roadway design on highway, street and trail projects for UDOT and/or other local governments. The Candidate will work our Cottonwood Heights Office with a Hybrid Remote Work Agreement generally for 3 days in person per week.

Your impact:
Lead, assign, and review work of the project delivery team; check work and progress; identify changes of scope and potential additional services.
Serve as a Task Lead, or Design Engineer on large-scale highway, bridge, and/or trail projects with multiple disciplines and sub-consultant.
Train and/or mentor junior staff
Work with other West Region transportation leads in the completion of regionally significant projects.
Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, conduct studies and design calculations, and support all aspects of an engineering project while collaborating with staff, consultants, and clients.
Implement existing QA/QC procedures, participate in the further development and maintenance of the QA/QC program for transportation improvement projects
Participate in project scoping and fee estimating for design contracts.
Assist with write-ups and exhibits for technical and risk considerations on proposals for design engineering contracts.
Who you are:
8+ years of roadway design experience for highways and streets.
B.S. in Civil Engineering and licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Utah (or ability to obtain Utah PE License within six months).
Candidate may report in-office or work a hybrid schedule and would be located in the Salt Lake City area or willing to relocate prior to beginning work.
Solid background leading roadway design, with demonstrated interdisciplinary understanding and coordination skills. Trail design experience is a plus.
Experience working on UDOT and local agency transportation projects is preferred.
Experience in designing and delivering projects in Open Roads Designer required. Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D is a plus, but not necessary.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Self-motivated and can work independently but also enjoy working in a team environment.
