The HRIS Specialist serves as a technical point of contact for employees and managers on HR systems and processes. This role supports system administration, data integrity, reporting, and process improvement, and partners closely with HR and other stakeholders to ensure accurate, secure, and effective use of HR technology. The position requires hands-on experience with HR data reporting and the ability to write and maintain SQL queries to support business and compliance needs.
What You'll Do
- Provide user support for HRIS, including researching and resolving system issues, unexpected results, or process flaws; performing scheduled activities; and recommending solutions or alternate methods to meet business requirements.
- Develop user procedures, guidelines, and documentation. Train employees and managers on new processes and system functionality; train new system users.
- Support the maintenance and data integrity of the HRIS system, including regular audits and validation of HR data.
- Write, maintain, and optimize standard and ad hoc reports using HRIS reporting tools and SQL queries to support HR, leadership, and compliance needs.
- Use SQL to retrieve, join, and analyze HR data across systems while ensuring data accuracy, security, and confidentiality.
- Recommend process improvements, customer service enhancements, innovative solutions, or policy changes related to HRIS functionality and reporting.
- Process and monitor the new‑hire workflow via Applicant Tracking System (ATS), E‑I9 Dashboard, and HRIS, including creation of employee files and codes, verification of completed forms, and data validation.
- Maintain awareness of current trends in HRIS and HR technology, including product developments and reporting capabilities. Continuously expand HR and HRIS knowledge through training, reading, and user group participation.
- Provide general assistance to the HR Department and monitor incoming department communications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or certification in Human Resources, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 1--3 years of experience supporting HRIS systems and HR data/reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Basic knowledge of HR practices, principles, and employment laws (federal, state, and local).
- Working knowledge of SQL, including writing basic to intermediate queries for reporting and data validation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PHR or SHRM‑CP certification.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience using SQL in an HRIS or related data environment (e.g., UKG)
- Experience working in a retail‑based or multi‑location organization.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
Work Environment
The position is based in an office environment, requiring periods of sitting and the operation of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and other office tools. Work hours are typically 8-5, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.
