This position will work 4 days/week with either Tuesday or Thursdays off.
Job Summary
Assists with patient care activities, performs clerical functions, and maintains and promotes a safe, clean and organized environment for the delivery of patient care.
This position supports the audiologists physically at the Appleton Clinic in terms of:
Checking in hearing aids/equipment
Stocking exam rooms / taking inventory
Preparing outbound packages
Completing paperwork
Providing second tester support
Cleaning toys/rooms
Additional support for our Audiology team at large through:
Fulfilling scheduling requests via Audiology pool in Epic
Scheduling appointments for all sites via our work queue
MyChart enrollment
Education:
- High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) preferred
Experience:
- Previous experience in a pediatric healthcare environment preferred or relevant education
Licenses and Certifications:
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates age-appropriate interactions with neonatal, infant, toddler, pre-school, school-age, adolescent and/or adult patient based on their developmental needs.
- Patient Care * Assists with patient care related responsibilities as directed by the clinician, including but not limited to preparing supplies/materials for treatment sessions and physically assisting when patients have a physical, communication, or behavioral need. * Assists with rooming and performs in-clinic check out and scheduling to enhance patient experience. Monitors the daily schedule which includes, but is not limited to, management of daily appointments, no-shows, cancelled appointments, bump list appointments, and appointments on the wait list.
- Clinic Operations * Inventories, orders and ensures that the quantity of supplies and equipment is adequate based the department needs. Orders supplies for routine care as requested by clinicians and leaders. Stocks department rooms. * Maintains a clean, organized and safe environment within all treatment areas. Ensures that hallways are free of equipment and supplies. Ensures that supplies are stored in compliance with the Joint Commission standards. * Cleans treatment areas, equipment, and treatment materials/toys after each session in collaboration with therapists. * Ensures compliance of expiration dates and refrigerator temperatures and takes action to remedy the situation if needed. * Ensures that equipment needed for patient care is available at all times. Requests equipment from storage if needed. Addresses any deficiencies or unsafe equipment with the appropriate department. Responsible for working with clinical engineering department at maintaining missing equipment report. * Collects and ensures delivery of instruments and equipment to sterile processing or food services department. * Submits work orders to facilitate smooth care delivery and a safe environment. * Communicates effectively with staff to maintain optimal clinic operations. Utilizes Voalte and other communication systems as needed within the clinic.
- Clerical Support * Greets patient and family in a welcoming manner, ensuring confidentiality and privacy. * Utilizes the electronic clinical information systems to support clinic operations and patient care. * Manages telephone calls and documents information appropriately as needed to support the Clinic Coordinator and clinic operations.
