The Role:
•An opportunity has arisen for Finance Sr. Manager based in Tokyo. This position will oversee all aspects of the financial management including financial accounting, reporting activities of the business, budget planning, and supporting executive management team in offering insights and financial advice that will allow them to make the best business decisions for the company.
•Finance Sr. Manager reports to the GBS Director APAC based in Singapore, and supervises a team comprising accounting manager and contractors. .
•In the future this position will be also responsible for the company’s general administration and IT operation with two staff (3 working days for each person per week) and external IT consulting company.
Scope and Responsibilities:
•Form a close working relationship with Japan country head and other local department leads
•Provide leadership for optimizing the company’s financial performance and strategic position
•Take overall control of the company’s accounting function
•Contribute fully to the development of company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers
•Ensure that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth
•Lead and develop finance teams
•Support corporate budgeting processes are carried out and reviewed
•Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met.
•Corporate finance: manage company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity, disposals and acquisitions, as appropriate
•Producing monthly management financial reports based on US GAAP i
•Liaising with tax agents
•Looking into strengthening current internal control and process improvement
•Provide analytical support to the business unit team to understand business drivers of performance and how to improve performance, including intervention suggestions
•Perform scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, benchmarking of business unit performance
•Partner with Supply Chain, CD&D, and Sales teams to support business and financial decision-making. Find and fix internal control weaknesses if any.
Immediate Challenge:
•All finance issues (Accounting, Tax Accounting, Reporting)
•Continuous Improvement of efficiency of finance and accounting process.
•Possible installation of SAP system.

Experience:
•Solid financial and accounting management experience.
•Minimum 15 years of experience in a similar position in large multinational and ideally Food service or agricultural commodity business
•Working in an organization with matrix management and reporting to both a local management team and regional function team in outside of Japan
•Understanding of Food manufacturing business or wholesale business of global enterprise will be essential.
•Experience with due diligence, forecasting, and financial analysis
•Understand the difference between JP-GAAP and US-GAAP and to set realistic landing point.
•Results and continuous improvement oriented; ability to drive initiatives and lead changes
•Proven experience in finance integration
•People management and team development with strong leadership
Qualifications / Personal Attributes
•University degree and above in Accountancy or Finance, Economics, Business Studies or related professional qualification CPA and others equivalent
•Positive, ‘can do’ hands on attitude
•Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and pragmatic approach
•Proven intercultural leadership skills to achieve goals through teamwork
•Interpersonal skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships
•Commercial and business acumen
•Effective oral and written communication skills as well as ability to interface with various levels of office and operational contacts
•Language skills – proficient both written and verbal in both Japanese and English for day to day business interface
•A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data
•Ability to work within tight deadlines
•Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Navision / SAP is a plus
•PC skill is mandatory (Excel/PowerPoint) at intermediate or advanced level
