The High Speed Copier Operator II performs operation of monochrome and color high speed digital presses with some pre-press and finishing work.
Operates High Speed (120 Copies per minute) Photocopier and related job tasks. Prepares materials for copying, determines quantity and stock specifications and checks printer output for quality and accuracy. Cleans, adjusts, and performs routine maintenance high speed copiers. Replaces consumables such as stitcher wire, toner, and paper, and monitors stock inventories.
Operates bindery/finishing equipment such as a paper cutter, folder, collator, envelope stuffer, booklet maker, binder, and laminator. Perform routine maintenance on machinery.
Retrieves electronic files from Market Direct Digital Storefront application and performs electronic pre-press and file preparation for non-complex print orders.
Participates in the moving of materials and stocking paper shelves.
High School Diploma or GED.
Two years of experience in the operation of a high-speed copier.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
General knowledge of and skill in the operation and maintenance of multifunctional high-speed digital presses and finishing/bindery equipment. General knowledge of paper weights and reactions to duplicating processes; of the layout of materials for duplicating and publication. Elementary knowledge of office practices and procedures. Skill in setting up and operating high speed copiers to meet complex job specifications. Ability to lift, transport and stock copier supplies, paper, and related equipment; to maintain effective working relationships with others; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to follow oral and written instructions; to perceive the normal color spectrum; to wear and work in personal protective equipment. Ability to review and prepare orders through electronic storefront.
Preferences:
Some knowledge of Print Production and Graphic Arts software. Ability to create spreadsheets tracking orders and print totals.
$44,053 annually and full University benefits that includes annual leave, up to 17 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission. Applicants with TU or USM service may receive salary credit. When applicable, a 2.5% increase may be added to the annual salary, pending successful completion of the initial six-month probationary period, for this position.
