

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide leadership in planning, implementing and evaluating learning experiences of students in classroom and research settings. Demonstrates competence in teaching and scholarship of teaching. Demonstrates competence in the scholarship of discovery and integration by developing a program of research. Demonstrates competence in the scholarship of discovery and integration by developing a program of research. Demonstrates competence in the scholarship of application by participating in research, departmental, school, university, and professional or community organizations. Maintains current professional credentials as appropriate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
General responsibilities include the conduct of laboratory research related to highly pathogenic viruses, chronic infections, and countermeasure development.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Conduct high-quality, original research in the candidate’s area of expertise. Publish findings in peer reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
• Develop competitive grant proposals and secure extramural funding to support research activities.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to the candidate’s discipline. Develop new course materials and participate in curriculum planning.
• Supervise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research projects, theses, and dissertations.
• Foster interdisciplinary collaborations within the department and across the university. Participate in research groups, seminars, and joint projects.
• Contribute to departmental and university service activities, including committees, outreach and professional organizations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated record of research achievement, including publications and presentations.
• Potential for or experience in securing research funding.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and interact contributes to a diverse academic environment.
• Documented ability to work safely in a BSL-2 and BSL2-(+) laboratory environment; prior research experience with BSL-2 infectious agents is desirable.
SALARY:
