Why Your Role Matters
The Senior Data, Evaluation & Impact Officer provides expert leadership in the design, development, and governance of the University’s evaluation and impact measurement framework. This role ensures the Gender-Based Violence Program aligns with the Universities Accord (National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-Based Violence) Act 2025 (the Code), supporting robust, ethical, and compliant impact measurement.
Working closely with stakeholders and subject matter experts, you will drive consistent, evidence-based evaluation practices, enabling effective reporting, informed decision-making, and continuous improvement.
In addition, the role contributes specialist evaluation expertise to broader Diversity & Inclusion initiatives, strengthening impact measurement capability across the department.
This position reports to the Manager, Programs and Community, and supports work across the wider team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of a university-wide evaluation and impact measurement framework, including defining meaningful metrics and methodologies
Translate complex legislative and regulatory requirements into practical, institution-wide evaluation and reporting approaches
Establish and embed consistent, ethical processes for data collection, analysis, and governance related to gender-based violence prevention and response
Apply independent professional judgement to determine appropriate data governance, methodologies, and analytical approaches
Ensure compliance with the Code through accurate and timely internal and external reporting
Oversee the preparation of legislated reports and submissions, synthesising qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
Partner with program teams to define, implement, and report on impact measures across initiatives
Manage ethics application processes to enable publication of evaluation outcomes, ensuring compliance and integrity
Communicate complex evaluation findings clearly to a wide range of stakeholders
Provide functional leadership and guidance to build evaluation capability and consistency across the team
Manage assigned projects, ensuring high-quality delivery, documentation, and stakeholder engagement
About You
You are an experienced evaluation and data professional with a strong understanding of the Code. As there are currently limited processes in place in this space, you enjoy working independently, building processes from the ground up, and shaping a role you can take ownership of. You bring:
Demonstrated experience evaluating gender-based violence programs
Extensive experience designing and governing evaluation and impact frameworks in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
Strong capability in data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting
Experience managing human research ethics processes for evaluation and impact projects
Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex insights for diverse audiences
Proficiency in digital tools and systems for data capture, analysis, and reporting (UNSW uses Power BI)
Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
Experience working across large, complex organisations
Proven ability to interpret legislative or regulatory requirements and translate them into practical, defensible systems and processes
This is a full-time, hybrid role working Monday to Friday. The position is approved until December 2027, with no extension available at this stage.
