Appointment will be made on Grade IV salary scale (€35,609
- €51,718, €54,914 LSI) at a point in line with Government pay policy.
Hours of work:
Part Time 17.50 Hours Per Week
Working a week on / week off Monday to Friday, flexibly to meet the needs of the service and hours are subject to change depending on service demands. It is expected that the post holder will be available mainly during core hours and that the flexi-clock system will be utilised.

Position Summary:
This role entails rotating from main reception duties to transport duties on a rotational basis based on service demands and rosters.
The post holder will provide cross cover to the main reception and transport. The post holder is required to be flexible, and undertake duties to support the work of the area as a whole. This can range from reception duties, answering the phone, managing visitors, processing queries relating to visiting, general queries on out-patient clinics, managing patient belongings and covering main reception duties.
General Services Division:The Division has 14 departments and a number of sub-departments including Cleaning, Laundry, Portering, Security, Chaplaincy, Reception, Healthcare records, Printing, Catering, Transport, On-Call Accommodation including Boardroom/ Committee Room, Waste Management, Switch Room.
The key role of our division is to support clinical services and patients. We work closely with all departments to ensure a 24/7 service to patients and staff.
TransportThe Transport Officer will provide a point of contact between ward areas, the transport desk, National Ambulance Service and hospital transport service providers.
Transport Tasks:
This role involves various tasks and liaison with various bodies such as:-1. All hospital wards regarding the transport of patients by the most cost effective mode oftransport.2. Liaison on a daily basis with the Patient Flow Manager / Team.3. Liaison with the National Ambulance Service in relation to the transfer of stretcher patients following original booking from the transport desk.4. Booking of ambulances via the hospital transport service providers.5. Liaison with the hospital transport service providers on patient transport.6. Liaison with external hospitals to repatriate patients back to the original hospital.
Transport LiaisonKey duties include:1. Regular liaison with the transport desk and Patient Flow, Ward Managers to ensure thetimely discharge of patients in particular patients discharged to other agencies.2. Dealing with all related queries on patient transport.
Knowledge for the position.1. Awareness of the hospitals policy on the discharge of patients.2. The hospital does not provide transport home for patients.3. Transport cover from private health insurance etc.4. Knowledge of the National Ambulance Service transfer of patients.
Other Duties1. Other duties as may be deemed necessary in the future with changes in the visiting policy.
Personal1. Ensure compliance with hospital policies regarding absenteeism and other HR policies asavailable on the Q Pulse.2. Ensure compliance with mandatory training eg. Standard Precautions, Manual Handling, Fire Training, Data Protection, GDPR, Cyber Security and Children First.3. Undertake such training as is made available or is deemed necessary to ensure efficient work practices.

Professional Qualifications, Experience (a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:(i) Obtained at least grade D (or pass) in Higher or Ordinary Level in five subjects from the approved list of subjects in the Department of Education established Leaving Certificate Examination or Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme or Leaving Certificate Applied.Or (ii) Passed an examination of at least equivalent standardOr (iii) Satisfactory relevant experience which encompasses demonstrable equivalent skillsAnd (b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability, for the proper discharge of the office based on the skills competencies and knowledge for the post.
