Engineer- Reliability
As an Engineer (Supportability) – Reliability, you will apply engineering principles to develop reliability models, support system optimisation, and contribute to Integrated Logistics Support activities across the full engineering lifecycle. You will work independently while building deeper technical capability, producing high‑quality analysis and documentation that strengthens mission‑critical defence systems.
About You
You are an emerging engineering professional who is ready to deepen your expertise in reliability, maintainability and testability within complex defence programs. You bring a solid grounding in engineering principles, supported by relevant qualifications, and you are motivated to apply these concepts to real‑world systems across the full engineering lifecycle. You are comfortable working independently while knowing when to seek guidance, and you take pride in producing accurate modelling, analysis and technical documentation. You have a developing understanding of engineering toolsets and analytical methods, and you are eager to build mastery in areas such as reliability modelling, FMECA, RCM and FRACAS.
You communicate clearly, collaborate well with multidisciplinary teams and contribute positively to technical discussions and reviews. You are committed to continuous learning and professional development, and you value opportunities to share knowledge and mentor others as your capability grows. You understand the importance of product safety, engineering governance and compliance, and you approach your work with diligence, curiosity and a strong sense of responsibility. You are eligible for, or able to obtain, an NV1 security clearance and you are motivated by the opportunity to support critical national capability through disciplined engineering practice.
About the Role
As an Engineer (Supportability) specialising in Reliability, you will contribute to the development, optimisation and assurance of mission and support system solutions through rigorous modelling, analysis and technical evaluation. You will apply engineering theories and methods to produce reliability allocations and predictions, develop reliability block diagrams, conduct RAM and fault tree analyses, and support reliability growth activities. You will also undertake FMECA, RCM and FRACAS work, and contribute to data collection and corrective action systems that strengthen the performance and sustainability of complex assets.
Your role will extend into broader Integrated Logistics Support activities, where you will provide inputs into LORA, maintenance task analysis, life cycle cost assessments, LSAR development and acceptance verification and validation. You will support evaluations of capability submissions, tender responses, upgrade options and through‑life support strategies, helping to inform decisions that balance performance, cost and risk. You will conduct technical investigations, produce high‑quality documentation, maintain accurate records and contribute to engineering processes that integrate effectively with operational needs. You will participate in reviews with internal and external stakeholders, provide sound engineering advice within your domain and uphold all safety, trade control and compliance requirements. Throughout your work, you will embody Babcock’s principles, contribute to continuous improvement and help build a culture of technical excellence and professional growth.
