Job Overview
Safety and Health Manager directly manages and coordinates the activities of Sr. Engineers, Engineers and Coordinators in SHE (work environment, occupational health & safety, fire prevention). He / She is responsible for work that includes SHE workforce management, assessment and compliance, government relations management, and so on. He / She needs to interact with a wide range of stakeholders, including utility engineer and operator, equipment engineer, controls engineer, production engineer, production planner, managers and vendors to identify issues related to SHE and to assess and report on any alternatives.
Role and Responsibilities
Safety and Health Workforce
- Plan and optimize headcounts for Safety and Health (work environment, occupational health and safety, fire prevention).
- Manage and respond to employee relations issues regarding SHE operating workforce (Sr. Engineers, Engineers, and Coordinators).
- Coach and train Sr. Engineers, Engineers and Coordinators to develop SHE related skills and professional / general competencies.
- Appraise the Sr. Engineers, Engineers, and Coordinators performance and gives productive feedback.
- Address complaints and resolve problems of Sr. Engineers, Engineers, and Coordinators.
Assessment and Compliance
Review assessment and compliance on the following:
- OSHA and Occupational Health / Safety and Fire Prevention Status
Various Management
Review and manage the following and not limited to:
- KPI, Work Permit, Risk Assessment, Workers' compensation, Inspections and audits, OSHA Programs, Occupational Health, PPE, SDS (Materials Safety Data Sheets), Fire Safety and, Chemical Substance.
Emergency Planning
- Review the emergency scenarios for all production processes.
- Review the emergency trainings.
- Establish reporting process for government agencies and emergency response procedures in case of on-site accidents.
Government Relations Management
Report to government agencies and take follow up measures on followings:
- Occupational health and safety status, Firefighting and fire preventative status, Work Environment.
Audit Management
- Create and manage the documents required for ISO 45001 and HQ standards.
- Take appropriate measures to improve occupational safety and correct non-conformities specified by ISO evaluation reports.
Communication with Stakeholders
- Respond to complaints relating to safety and health matters from local community.
Training and Development
Train employees and construction / equipment vendors on followings:
- Occupational health & safety, Fire prevention and Work Environment.
Other tasks assigned by Sr. SHE Manager and C-Suite Executives.
Skill and Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Safety, or related field.
- At least 10 - 12 years of relevant experience and 5 - 7 years of supervisory/managerial experience in Safety and Health.
- Certifications (preferred): ASP (Associate Safety professional), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), OHST (Occupational Health and Safety Technologist).
