Senior Sites Supervisor - BESS Field Operations
Position Summary
The Senior Sites Supervisor serves as the primary onsite representative for SK On during the deployment of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role is responsible for providing critical oversight to EPC partners, and ensuring that installation, commissioning, and performance testing are executed in strict accordance with engineering specifications and manufacturer standards. Able to move around to different sites to provide support as needed to ensure installation and commissioning of the SK BESS is ongoing.
Scope of Responsibilities
1. EPC Collaboration & Installation Oversight
Technical Advisory: Provide specialized support to the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor, ensuring mechanical and electrical installations align with the manufacturer's design intent.
On-Site Compliance: Monitor site activities to ensure the integrity of the manufacturer's equipment is maintained throughout the construction lifecycle.
2. Commissioning & Performance Testing
Field Leadership: Supervise on-site commissioning technicians and sub-contractors to ensure work is performed safely and according to Project Commissioning Plan
Quality Verification: Support and complete onsite checklists as needed to ensure all equipment is properly installed, terminated, and configured ahead of performance testing
Functional Troubleshooting: Lead the diagnostic efforts during the commissioning phase, identifying and resolving complex hardware or firmware issues within the battery enclosures.
System Defects: Be capable of repairing or swapping defective components, and comfortable working with tools or providing guidance to SK's Authorized Service Providers (ASPs) on how to repair defective equipment to maintain product warranty.
System Integration: Oversee the integration of the Power Conversion System (PCS) and Energy Management System (EMS), ensuring that all components are properly configured to achieve power movement of SK BESS.
Performance Validation: Manage and support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and Performance Testing (e.g. Round-Trip Efficiency and Capacity tests) to validate system benchmarks and satisfy contractual milestones.
3. Technical Documentation & Defect Management
Defect Identification: Systematically identify, document, and categorize equipment defects or installation non-conformities
Reporting: Maintain daily commissioning logs, test reports, and performance data and prepare formal technical reports for SK's Project Management, Engineering, and Quality teams, in preparation for root cause analyses for on-site failures.
Documentation Stewardship: Ensure the meticulous completion and archival of all commissioning logs, checklists, safety checklists, quality reports, and "As-Built" documentation to facilitate project handover and warranty commencement.
Product Improvement: Provide feedback to SK's Project Management, Engineering, and Quality teams on quality or performance issues of the SK BESS to enable constant improvements in the product
Professional Requirements
