At WALGA, the work we do sits in a unique space, bringing together communications, events and member engagement to help support our members, advocate for issues that matter most to Local Government and empower them to deliver for their communities.
We’re looking for a Graphic Designer who can bring this work to life through thoughtful and impactful visual design. In this role, your creativity has purpose. The work you produce will support how we communicate important issues facing Local Government, engage stakeholders and deliver advocacy outcomes that make a difference to communities across WA.
About the role
This is a hands-on creative role with exposure to a wide variety of work across the organisation. You’ll contribute to high-profile initiatives and sector events such as the WALGA Local Government Convention and Aboriginal Engagement Forum, where your work will be showcased to members and stakeholders across the State.
Working as part of a collaborative marketing, communications and events team, you’ll lead the development of contemporary, on-brand design across campaigns, events and communications. From campaign concepts and publications through to event branding, digital content and promotional materials, you’ll translate complex ideas into clear, engaging and visually compelling outcomes. Whilst there's a big dose of this fun work, there's naturally a significant amount of typesetting and minor asset generation too.
You’ll also play an important role in maintaining and evolving WALGA’s brand, ensuring consistency and quality across all outputs, while working closely with the Content Producer and Digital Marketing Advisor to deliver cohesive and impactful campaigns.

About you
You’re a designer who enjoys both the craft and the collaborative nature of great design.
You’re naturally curious and take the time to understand the “why” behind the work, using that insight to shape design outcomes that are not only visually appealing, but meaningful and effective. You bring demonstrated experience in graphic design, with strong capability across Adobe Creative Suite and a solid understanding of typography, layout and visual hierarchy.
You’re comfortable working across multiple projects at once, balancing creativity with deadlines and attention to detail.
Most importantly, you enjoy working with others. You’re confident engaging with stakeholders and motivated by being part of a team that brings ideas to life and delivers work that truly connects.
