Key purpose of the role:
The Head of Trading Services is accountable for the business ownership, resilience, governance and evolution of ASX’s core trading platforms, including ASX Trade and ASX24.Reporting to the General Manager, Trading & Product, the role ensures ASX’s trading platforms remain trusted, resilient, compliant and competitive, balancing innovation with stability while delivering strong customer, regulatory and commercial outcomes. The role operates as the senior business owner of trading platforms, working in close partnership with Product Management, Distribution, Delivery, Markets Technology and key enterprise stakeholders.
Your responsibilities
Strategy, Platform Ownership and Change:
- Define and execute the business and platform strategy for ASX Trading Services, aligned to ASX strategy, licence obligations and evolving market needs.
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of ASX trading platforms, including roadmap prioritisation, modernisation initiatives, vendor partnerships and legacy platform transitions.
- Act as business owner for ASX Trade and ASX24, accountable for platform functionality, performance, resilience, access models, data distribution and cost efficiency.
- Lead the delivery of significant trading platform and market structure change, balancing innovation with operational resilience, risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Partner closely with Markets Technology to shape front to back architecture, ensuring technology decisions support business, customer and regulatory outcomes.
Market Structure, Regulation and External Engagement:
- Develop, own and advocate ASX’s position on cash and derivatives market structure, in partnership with Product Management and Distribution where appropriate.
- Proactively monitor and respond to regulatory, competitive, customer and government developments impacting trading platforms and services.
- Maintain trusted and effective relationships with ASIC, RBA and relevant industry bodies, ensuring confidence in ASX trading platforms and market outcomes.
- Represent ASX externally on complex, novel or sensitive trading, market structure and platform related matters.
Commercial and Revenue Accountability:
- Be accountable for the commercial performance of trading services, including revenue drivers linked to platform access, trading models, pricing inputs and data distribution, within the broader Markets P&L.
- Define and manage pricing inputs and commercial initiatives across trading services in close collaboration with Product Management and Finance
- Identify market structure, access and trading model opportunities that support revenue growth and competitive positioning, working in partnership with Product, Quant and Data and Distribution teams.
- Use trading, participant and platform data to inform commercial strategy, pricing decisions and competitive positioning.
Customer and Stakeholder Outcomes:
- Own trading access models and service design, from participant onboarding and connectivity through execution and post‑trade data.
- Partner closely with Distribution and customer‑facing teams to support strategic participant relationships, escalations and service outcomes.
- Ensure trading platform and market changes are delivered with a strong customer and participant impact lens, including readiness, transition planning and communications.
Leadership and Culture:
- Lead, develop and inspire a high‑performing Trading Services team, with clear accountability for resilience, delivery and outcomes.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence, curiosity, continuous improvement and shared ownership.
- Operate effectively in a matrix environment, maintaining clear decision rights, prioritisation and escalation.
- Collaborate across ASX to drive enterprise‑wide alignment, particularly with Product Management, Delivery, Technology, Risk, Legal and Distribution.
