Head of Technical Support is a senior role that provides strategic and technical guidance, acting as a subject matter expert to support sales teams and customers.
Key responsibilities include developing customized solutions, conducting product demonstrations, analyzing data, collaborating with R&D and operations, and staying updated on industry advancements to enhance product value.
This role requires a strong technical background, with often a veterinary science degree, combined with extensive experience in the poultry industry and strong communication and leadership skills.
This role defines and executes the technical strategy as per the OpCo strategic goal. This role reports to the Strategic Marketing Director and will have Technical, Customer Lab Services and Applicator team members as the direct reports.

A Technical Head for poultry feed supplements is a senior role that provides strategic and technical guidance, acting as a subject matter expert to support sales teams and customers.
Key responsibilities include developing customized solutions, conducting product demonstrations, analyzing data, collaborating with R&D and operations, and staying updated on industry advancements to enhance product value. This role requires a strong technical background, with a veterinary science masters/PhD, combined with extensive experience in the poultry industry and strong communication and leadership skills.
Key responsibilities
- Strategic guidance: Provide technical and strategic advice to account managers and sales teams.
- Customer support: Offer on-site technical assistance, create customized solutions, and support sales with technical and marketing materials.
- Product expertise: Act as a subject matter expert on poultry feed supplements and conduct product demonstrations.
- Data analysis: Analyze data and customer information to develop solutions and drive initiatives.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work with R&D, sales, and operations teams to align on projects and strategies.
- Training: Train sales teams on technical aspects of the products.
- Market intelligence: Stay updated on product research, market trends, and competitive developments.
Key accountabilities
- Product Expertise and Knowledge Transfer: Serve as the in-house subject matter expert on all products, their application across species (poultry, ruminants), and their impact on animal health and performance.
- Technical Support and Customer Relations: Provide advanced pre- and post-sales technical support to customers, distributors, and the internal sales team. This includes addressing customer issues, diagnosing nutritional problems, and offering practical feeding solutions to ensure high satisfaction and loyalty.
- Research, Development, and Innovation (R&D): Plan, execute, and evaluate scientific and field trials to optimize product performance and validate claims. Stay abreast of industry trends and nutritional advancements to identify growth opportunities and collaborate with R&D teams on new product applications.
- Formulation and Quality Assurance: Develop and implement nutritionally balanced feed formulations. Oversee quality control processes to ensure all products meet internal standards, customer needs, and regulatory requirements
- Training and Education: Design and deliver comprehensive technical and sales training programs for internal staff and external stakeholders (e.g., farmers, distributors, key influencers) to enhance product knowledge and application expertise.
- Market Intelligence and Strategy: Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to help inform product development, go-to-market strategies, and marketing campaigns. Position products effectively to ensure differentiation and drive sales growth.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration and Leadership: Lead and mentor technical teams while working closely with sales, marketing, production, and procurement departments to align technical strategies with overall business objectives and ensure operational efficiency.
- Documentation and Communication: Translate complex scientific data into accessible commercial formats, developing technical manuals, sales tools, and reports for various audiences.
- Business process/operational improvements: Participates from the own discipline in multidisciplinary project teams on business process/operational improvement issues, within the OpCo strategy and year plans, in order to optimise the operational performance and thereby contributes to the financial performance of the OpCo.
- Budget control: Controls the budget of the department, takes corrective actions when necessary, and ensures adequate reporting, within corporate guidelines, to ensure that the OpCo delivers its budget and meets KPI objectives.
- People Leadership: Organises, manages, develops and staffs the department in line with corporate guidelines, in order to be equipped for current and future business challenges and contribute to the optimisation of business results. Coaches his/her team on a weekly basis to achieve team and individual targets.
