

The Greenwood School of Music seeks a full-time Assistant Professor of Music to serve as the Associate Director of Bands and Director of the Cowboy Marching Band. (Beginning date: August 16, 2023)
The successful candidate will oversee the Athletic Band Program including serving as Director of the 300+-member OSU Cowboy Marching Band as well as assisting the Director of Bands with the teaching and administration of a comprehensive university band program. Additional teaching responsibilities include conducting the Symphonic Band, teaching within the Music Education sequence as well as other courses assigned according to the qualifications of the applicant and the needs of the School of Music. The candidate is expected to engage in service to the unit and their profession, to be productive as an artist/scholar, and to promote an inclusive workplace and learning environment.
Salary contingent upon funding availability.
The University (25,000 students at its main campus in Stillwater) is located approximately 65 miles from Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The Greenwood School of Music has thirty-six full-time and thirteen part-time faculty members and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. The School offers the degrees of Master of Music (with options in applied music or conducting); Bachelor of Music (with options in music education and performance); Bachelor of Arts; and Bachelor of Science in Music Industry. A preference will be given to a candidate with a completed Doctorate in Conducting or Music Education, documented experience and a record of success in all areas of college marching band and concert band, and a record of successful secondary school teaching including recruitment and retention. Additionally, the candidate will show evidence of a commitment to working collegially, and collaboratively while demonstrating advanced skills in excellent leadership and communication.
