Job Description
SUMMARY
The OEM Technical Leader will oversee the technical aspects, execution, and delivery of OEM projects to meet specifications, timelines, and budgets. They will provide technical direction, coordinate cross-functional collaboration, maintain stakeholder communication, mitigate risks, drive continuous improvement, and ensure seamless integration with vendors and quality. Additionally, they will manage challenges, foster innovation, and present the status to regional architectures of resource planning and project outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the technical specifications, execution, and delivery of OEM projects, ensuring they meet technical specifications, timelines, test plan completion, and budget constraints.
- Provide technical direction and support to the project, ensuring the development of high-quality, innovative solutions.
- Create the technical product documentation (following the Electrolux Project Management process) required for project execution and checkpoint gates (test plans, results, DFMEA, DFM/DFA&A, etc.).
- Support architecture owner for the designated platform, helping to define new architecture/module variant requirements.
- Coordinate with other departments, including manufacturing, quality assurance, technical, and architectural modules, to ensure seamless project integration and execution.
- Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including OEM partners, to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
- Identify and mitigate project development and implementation risks.
- Understand and report on new technologies for features from our OEM vendor groups for use in our products.
- Participate in NPD, quality, and cost projects, consulting with other engineers and managers as necessary
- Conduct audits, verify and document evidence of material compliance and non-compliance per company standards
- Support R&D Teams from each BA to perform specific test requirements (Reliability, Performance, Transportation) at different locations.
- Provide recommendations and BA know-how of engineering designs and tests gained from previous projects to suppliers.
- Work aside Quality on Product care projects and running changes (ECNS) with suppliers.
- Interact with the Office of Project Management to coordinate activities effectively between R&D, Manufacturing/Operation, Purchasing, and Product Line.
- Apply critical thinking to understand the depth of design and to predict why, when, and how designs fail.
- Track and follow batch DVT (development verification) and participate in MVT (manufacturing verification) builds at the supplier factory.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in R&D.
- Strong technical background in product development, with experience in OEM projects.
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects, with a track record of successful delivery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address technical challenges.
- Experience working in a multicultural environment, with an understanding of the local market and business practices in China.
Desirable experience
- 3 years or greater managing OEM projects.
- Multilingual, including Mandarin Chinese
- Food Preservation experience with multiple product platforms
- Experience with tools associated with new project development activities, including toll gate development processes, design reviews, project planning, part tracking, and milestone schedule management.
- Experience with refrigeration systems.
- Strong understanding of test plan requirements, performance, and mechanical testing.
- Direct experience with problem analysis and root cause investigation

- In-depth knowledge of R&D processes, product development, and OEM project management.

- Strong collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, multi-nationally.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and market conditions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely and communicate engineering concepts to all levels of an organization who may or may not have a technical background.
- Understanding of cultural differences and the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment.
- PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other technical software).
- Understanding of engineering principles, project management, and new product development activities to create, design, develop, and implement new features for refrigeration group
- Exhibit appropriate professional behavior, including a positive attitude, sense of urgency, independent judgment, teamwork, creative thinking, and personal integrity to achieve department/corporate goals and objectives.
