TRANSACTIONAL RISK UNDERWRITING OVERVIEW:
Associates on Chubb’s Transactional Risk Team play a critical role in evaluating and underwriting risks related to mergers and acquisitions (M&A), primarily focused on representations and warranties insurance. You will assess the unique risks associated with each transaction, determine if they align with Chubb’s underwriting criteria, and decide whether to approve, decline, or negotiate the terms of coverage.
From day one, you’ll immerse yourself in the world of transactional risk by learning how to analyze complex deal structures, review financial statements, confidential information memorandums, and legal documentation (such as purchase agreements and disclosure schedules), and identify key exposures that could impact the parties involved. You’ll be entrusted with a portfolio of deals to manage, and your success will be driven by your initiative and analytical skills.
Building and maintaining strong relationships is essential. You’ll work closely with external brokers, M&A advisors, legal counsel, and other stakeholders to understand the nuances of each transaction and the specific needs of their clients. Your ability to communicate clearly and build trust will encourage brokers and advisors to bring their business to Chubb.
Once a submission is received, you will conduct thorough due diligence—reviewing financial statements, legal documents, and risk factors—to evaluate whether the risk is acceptable. You’ll collaborate with internal experts, including legal, claims, and actuarial teams, to develop tailored policy wording and pricing. Finally, you’ll negotiate terms and market our solutions to brokers and clients, aiming to secure new business and retain existing relationships in a highly competitive marketplace.
In addition to underwriting M&A transactions, you will have a variety of operational responsibilities, including assisting with NDA reviews, file management, underwriting counsel liaison, providing live deal support to senior underwriters and collaborating with our operations department to ensure local systems logging.
FINANCE OVERVIEW
In this role, you will not only learn the foundations of financial accounting within the insurance industry but will be able to build on that knowledge to contribute meaningfully to short and long-term projects. You will have the opportunity to rotate within the 4 main areas of Finance: Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, Tax, and Financial Reporting.
