The Human Resources and Safety Coordinator supports recruitment, onboarding, and workplace safety initiatives. This position blends hands-on operational responsibilities with administrative functions and requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Safety
- Compliance: Ensure all staff adhere to safety protocols, company policies and regulatory standards

Incident Reporting: Coordinate workplace incident reporting, including injuries, vehicle accidents, and property damage, and liaise with Safety and Disability Management on return‑to‑work cases.
- Record‑Keeping: Maintain training and safety documentation, compliance and audit records, including responsibility for JHSC meeting minutes and ongoing monitoring of hazard submission.
- Collaboration: Work with managers to identify training needs, gaps and communicate opportunities.

Risk Assessment: Conduct audits, assess hazards, and implement corrective actions.
- Expand Knowledge: Continuously expand knowledge of HR and safety to provide warehouse operations support.
- Reinforce Safety Culture: Promote a strong safety culture within the workplace. Investigate incidents, near misses, and hazards to determine root causes and determine corrective action.
- Safety Inspections: Perform daily and monthly inspections such as racking systems and warehouse/yard areas, along with monitoring annual inspections of equipment, facility component, ensuring hazards are identified, corrected and prevented and that safety standards are met.
- Training Coordination: Schedule and coordinate mandatory in‑house and external safety training, including equipment training, First Aid, and TDG, etc. and collaborate with associates to complete role‑based training ensuring regulatory and organizational compliance.

Training and Onboarding: Strive for 100% completion of safety and training programs for new hires by conducting orientations and monitoring onboarding tasks and training completion during the first few weeks.
Recruitment
- Work and report to your district’s Human Resource Business Partner
- Post requisitions, conduct interviews, complete reference checks, background checks, arrange/complete drug testing of applicants.
- Various HR administrative duties and special assignments as required.
- Conducts research of sourcing of qualified candidates.
- Assist with customized screening including the following: post requisitions, conduct interviews, complete reference checks, background checks, arrange/complete drug testing of applicants.
- Refer appropriate candidates to HRBP and/or hiring supervisor.
- Provide support coordination of recruitment projects and related services to supervisors, hiring managers, recruitment team members, and others.
- Participate in job fairs, community activities, and other public and departmental recruitment-related events.
- Assist with employee onboarding.
- Assist with identifying issues affecting recruitment and implementing recruitment activities to continuously improve process.
- Knowledge/experience in the SAFETY FIELD would be considered a strong asset.
- Solid understanding of all required safety regulations, leads by example
- High level of attention to detail, especially as it relates to safety is a key, core competency.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- HR or Safety certification would be considered an asset
- Ability to work well within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to follow directions to ensure critical timelines are met based upon the needs of the business related to safety initiatives.
- Excellent computer skills: Excel, SharePoint, and Power Point.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Flexible, positive attitude and ability to thrive in a changing environment.
- Experience in Intelex, Oracle HCM would be considered a strong asset.
- Weekend/Evening shifts may be required on occasion
- Detail oriented with a focus on ensuring date integrity and delivering high quality work.
