The Role
The Construction Manager acts on behalf of NB Power and is responsible for planning and execution of work at the construction site. This includes managing all site activities, conducting site meetings and regular reporting to the Project Manager. This position will work 7days on working 12 hour shifts / 7 days off.
Please note that this position is being posted as an Expression of Interest (EOI). The opportunity remains contingent upon project award and client approval of candidates presented by Wood.

Typical responsibilities
- Responsible for planning and coordinating site mobilization and construction execution activities.
- Directs, manages, and coordinates all on-site activities.
- Conducts regular site meetings and supervises contractors on site.
- Coordinates with the Materials Planner to arrange materials to be provided to contractors by NB Power.
- Monitors, evaluates, and reports progress against the construction schedule.
- Ensures quality of work, including identification and correction of deficiencies.
- Works closely with site leads to identify required materials and equipment, coordinating with the Materials Planner and workgroup supervisors.
- Ensures site safety and security requirements are maintained at all times.
- Provides regular progress reports to the Project Manager.
- Identifies and manages change requests. Changes with no impact to scope, cost, or schedule may be addressed at site level; all others are escalated to the Project Manager.
- Enforces the Field Change Authorization process with on-site contractors.
- Communicates with landowners and stakeholders where required.
- Ensures environmental and quality control protection requirements are implemented and maintained on site.
- Assists the Project Manager with project closeout activities.

Expected:
- Must be a qualified journeyperson lineman holding a certificate of qualification issued under the Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification Act.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a leadership role within construction projects.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of field experience within an industrial environment.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Relevant construction management experience, with preference given to candidates with NB Power project experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Desirable:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience coaching co-workers and contractors, including negotiation, dispute resolution, and conflict management skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment while providing leadership, guidance, and support.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
- Willingness to travel, participate in activities, network, and build professional relationships.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to organize, analyze, and report on various data sets and project parameters.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.
- Bilingual communication skills in English and French would be considered an asset.
- Ability to proactively identify challenges related to safety, quality, cost, and schedule, and implement effective preventive, mitigating, or corrective actions.
