Purpose of Job
- To direct and guide the Instrumentation and Control discipline and lead global initiatives on both proven and innovative measurement and control technologies and techniques.
- To manage Instrumentation and Control complex projects to enable Sasol Group to achieve its strategic objectives.
Key Accountabilities
- Cascade operational goals and long-term plans through effective two-way communication in the organisation.
- Continuously improve on products and processes.
- Identify improvement opportunities and implement improvement solutions.
- Manage multi-level interfaces and integrate effectively.
- Interact with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage operations knowledge by transforming, packaging, transferring and maintaining operations knowledge.
- Coordinate the E;I Maintenance Division.
- Lead in establishing and continuously improving maintenance best practices, maintenance systems, aligning the right skilled resources to work with the right issues, improve and create maintenance standard for all process..
- Lead in continuous performance improvements within his/hers areas of responsibilities, including Health Safety and Environment.
- Report to Plant Manager on performance, such as systems availabilities, planned maintenance shutdowns, planning of maintenance need.
- Achievement of long term strategic objectives.
- Compliance to the long term life cycle management plans.
- Tactical planning of execution of strategy.
- Manage operations risks by making sure that all risks are identified, analysed and mitigated to acceptable levels.
- Adherence to Risk Management/Assessment Plans.
- Plant specific licences to operate and compliance (e.g. SANAS).
- Statutory compliance per plant(Systems/equipment under pressure, explosive protection, trips and alarm systems).
- Legal appointment compliance.
- Managing and auditing of critical controls.
- Execute SHE strategy to achieve zero harm.
- Continuous improvement of key safety metrics to maintain license to operate.
- Liaise with technology license holders.
- Identification of technical problems/opportunities.
- Benchmarking optimal solutions and practices.
- Adherence to Original Equipment Manufacturers requirements and licensor agreements.
Plant performance measures.
- Management of standards; Governance and Legal compliance.
- Participate in/leading design decisions/managing implementation.
- Conduct and participate in shutdown management.
- Compile annual as well as long-term maintenance budgets.
- Control cost to ensure the maintenance budget is achieved within budget.
- Develop long term renewal plans.
- Manage fixed and variable costs including electricity cost management (Sasol and Eskom).
Formal Education
University Bachelors Degree/ B Tech in Instrumentation and Control
Working Experience
Experience: 12+ relevant years and 5 years management experience
