Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Practical Law Corporate/Commercial (Scots law) (Part-time)

We are seeking an experienced corporate/commercial Scottish-qualified lawyer to join the Practical Law team in the UK.

Practical Law is a leading online know-how service providing expert-created, practical maintained content to help legal professionals work smarter and advise with confidence. About the Role

As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Practical Law, you will use your specialist legal knowledge of, and experience in, corporate/commercial law and practice in Scotland to create and maintain a wide range of content and to support the development of Thomson Reuters AI-powered legal solutions. Working in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues, you will deal with a breadth of interesting work.

Major responsibilities/accountabilities

• Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs, and business objectives.
• Review and edit content written by others, whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.
• Keep up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives.
• Use your legal expertise to support the development of customer-focused Thomson Reuters' AI-powered legal solutions.
• Use your legal expertise and editorial skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools.
• Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.
• Use your specialist legal knowledge to assist the wider Thomson Reuters team, working with product management, sales, marketing, and technology functions where necessary.

About You

You're a fit for the role if you are a qualified solicitor or advocate in Scotland and have:

• Substantial post-qualification experience of working as a corporate/commercial lawyer in a law firm, in-house or at the bar in the UK.
• Extensive experience in the following areas:
• Private M&A;
• Company formation and administration;
• Supply of goods and services terms and conditions;
• Confidentiality agreements; and
• General contract law.
• Some knowledge of partnership law.
• Strong writing skills, and a passion for writing about legal practice accurately, concisely and in plain English.
• A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
• Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilize OR various tools, including generative AI technologies, to enhance productivity and accuracy.
• Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space as well as new and emerging technologies.
• A curious mindset, including about the increasing intersection of AI and legal practice, adaptable and open to change.
• Experience of using AI tools in legal work.
