The Role
Enterprise IT seeks an experienced Platform Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers supporting Flutter's core enterprise platforms (Jira, Confluence, Slack Enterprise Grid, Zoom, and related applications).
This role ensures operational stability, compliance, and continuous improvement of mission-critical systems that enable cross-brand collaboration and support acquisition onboarding globally. The ideal candidate combines proven engineering leadership with deep SaaS platform expertise, service management discipline, and strong mentorship capability.
What you’ll be doing
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of three tooling engineers, providing clear direction, mentorship, and career development opportunities
Lead onboarding of new acquisitions to core platforms, enabling seamless cross-brand collaboration
Foster a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous learning
Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and goal-setting sessions
Build team capability through skills development, knowledge sharing, and cross-training
Manage resource allocation and capacity planning in collaboration with the Product Owner
Operational Support & Service Delivery
Oversee the operational support of Jira, Confluence, and Slack, ensuring stability, performance, and availability to meet business needs
Collaborate with the Service Manager to define and maintain service level agreements (SLAs) for incident response, issue resolution, and system availability
Ensure the team provides ongoing monitoring, troubleshooting, and support for platform services
Lead incident response and problem management activities, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication
Drive root cause analysis and implement preventative measures to reduce recurring issues
Change Delivery & Technical Execution
Translate product backlog priorities into technical implementation plans and sprint commitments
Manage the delivery of changes, upgrades, and improvements to core platforms, including integrations and new features
Collaborate closely with the Product Owner during sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release planning
Ensure delivery aligns with acceptance criteria, technical standards, and business expectations
Remove technical blockers and guide implementation approaches
Environment Maintenance & Optimisation
Ensure regular maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements of the platform environment, staying current with the latest versions and features
Lead hands-on implementation of product upgrades and major features, including managing company-wide stakeholder engagement
Maintain platform integrity and data security across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with regional data residency and regulatory requirements
Identify and address performance bottlenecks, conducting performance analysis and implementing optimisation strategies
Implement and maintain platform integrations between Jira, Confluence, Slack, and other enterprise systems
Ensure platform configurations align with security, compliance, and governance requirements
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
Work with the Service Manager and Product Owner to drive continuous improvements for platform services, exploring innovative solutions and staying updated on industry best practices
Implement user experience improvement strategies and deliver desired outcomes
Champion automation and scripting to streamline repetitive tasks and optimise processes
Research emerging products and technologies related to core platforms, providing insights on potential adoption and improvements
Surface major work items to roadmap managers to avoid resource constraints across teams
Documentation, Reporting & Governance
Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and standard operating procedures
Generate regular reports on platform performance, health metrics, and team delivery
Ensure documentation supports knowledge transfer, onboarding, and operational continuity
Provide input to compliance and audit activities related to platform services
Collaborate with the IAM team on access governance and policy enforcement
Stakeholder Collaboration
Partner with the Product Owner to ensure alignment between technical execution and business value
Build and maintain trusted relationships across all Flutter brands and divisions as a reliable service provider
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Service Management, Security, Compliance, and other technology divisions
Communicate technical progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders
Participate in stakeholder workshops and requirements gathering sessions as needed
What you’ll bring
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience working with on-premises hosted service management applications like Jira or ServiceNow and vendor-hosted applications like Slack
Proven track record implementing product upgrades and major features, including managing company-wide stakeholder engagement
Experience implementing user experience improvement strategies and delivering desired outcomes
Experience managing on-premises and cloud-based services and infrastructure
Familiarity with ITIL or other service management frameworks
Experience with additional collaboration tools and technologies beyond Jira, Confluence, and Slack
Project management skills to efficiently execute and deliver tooling-related projects
Knowledge of automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell, Groovy) to streamline repetitive tasks and optimise processes
Experience with additional collaboration tools beyond the core platform stack (preferred).
Background in enterprise IT environments within large, multi-brand organisations (preferred).
Experience implementing user experience improvement strategies with measurable outcomes (preferred).
