About The Role
We are looking for a Senior Tax Manager to support our Canadian tax function at TikTok. Specifically, the role will be responsible for domestic tax compliance and reporting, support audits, planning, special projects and expansion activities. The ideal candidate is a team player who strives for greater performance with aptitude to learn and challenge themselves, and is able to work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and potential areas of risk.
The Senior Tax Manager, Canada will serve as the lead tax resource for all Canadian tax matters. This is a highly hands-on role responsible for managing the full spectrum of Canadian corporate income tax and indirect tax activities, including compliance, provision, planning, tax incentives, audits, and business support. The role will work closely with external advisors and cross-functional internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and compliant tax operations across Canada.

- Lead and manage all Canadian corporate income tax and indirect tax matters, including tax compliance, tax provision, tax research, tax planning, tax incentives, and tax controversy management.
- Own the Company's Canadian tax compliance and reporting processes by coordinating with external tax service providers, reviewing filings and reporting deliverables, and managing communications with Canadian tax authorities.
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax provisions and related journal entries, including tax account reconciliations, true-up adjustments, and legal entity tax installment calculations.
- Monitor and manage Canadian Pillar Two requirements, including compliance readiness, legislative developments, data and reporting obligations, and modeling of potential tax and effective tax rate impacts.
- Support business growth initiatives and product launches in Canada by assessing tax implications, identifying potential risks, and providing practical implementation guidance to business stakeholders.
- Lead the preparation and coordination of annual SR&ED claims and other Canadian tax credit, incentive, and recovery opportunities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all Canadian tax matters internally and externally, including responding to business inquiries, coordinating tax audits, and managing relationships with external advisors and tax authorities.
- Lead and manage Canadian tax audits, government reviews, and tax authority inquiries, including coordinating responses, preparing supporting documentation, managing external advisors, and negotiating audit matters with tax authorities as needed.
- Monitor and interpret changes in Canadian tax legislation and regulations, assess business impact, and recommend appropriate actions to maintain compliance and optimize tax positions.
- Drive process improvements and support the implementation of tax technology tools and scalable workflows to enhance operational efficiency and internal controls.
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Operations, Product, and other business teams to understand evolving business activities and ensure appropriate tax treatment and compliance.
- Operate effectively in an independent, individual-contributor environment, balancing strategic tax oversight with day-to-day execution across all Canadian tax functions.
